new chat

Im sorry but the new chat was a horrible addition to the ning network!! I cant get on at work, Yeah yeah i know some of you guys are gonna be like well "you should be working not on chat" well dont judge what you dont know....

I assume because of the chat program is why i cant get in. I have the latest version of adobe, It is not blocked by my firewall it just doesnt show up up. I see a grey bar but thats it nothing is inside the grey. Those of you who dont know i work in a hospital, We have a t1 line so connection isnt the issue.

Why cant we go back to the old chats we used to have ? You can put it on a seperate page so people dont have to use it if they dont want to, admin rights can be givin to those that use it the most so things dont get out of hand.

Unfortunately, the chat is not something I can modify. It is integrated in the site. I can turn it off and turn it on, that's all. I personally kind of like it. Does your company network detect that it's a chat and block it for company purposes?

P.S. Just because I can't change it, doesn't mean it's not worth criticizing it. If you have criticisms, beyond "I can't get on at work" then post 'em here. After you're done I can send them in as suggestions to Ning.

Links don't work in it. You have to copy and paste, and that only works if the URL is short enough to copy from the window area provided. Otherwise people may not know that you have to double-click to get the whole entry highlighted, then take it to another tab or window to paste.

Wheres the chat box at, I can't seem to find it. Can someone PM me or reply to this post. Thanks in advance.

Please notice that now the chat is linked to a light gray bar at the bottom of the page.
- The button that looks like a person with a red or green light is to log in/out.
- The button with the arrow pointing up brings the chat up on top of the webpage- superimposed. Press again to close chat.
- The button with the arrow pointing up and left makes chat pop up in a new browser window.

I actually have to agree with Beatz....I miss the old chat box. This new chat is a little difficult to use, I find it near impossible to multi-task with other windows.

My only complaint is that it takes up too much space it feels, and the free floating chat box doesn't always work. I am sure that ning is working on that. Terry, you maintain a wonderful site !

I honestly can't even see or find the chat now. I see nothing at the bottom of the page as described. Can I not use Firefox????

I use firefox and it works- no gray bar that's like a toolbar on top except at the bottom now? You may need Adobe Flash or an upgrade. Click Interact then Chat and see if that makes the bar load.
