The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Ben and I met this morning with a representative from Washtenaw Community College (Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti, MI) about a course on WCC's campus. The coolest news about this course is that the president of the college asked for them to build one!

The piece of property they are considering is a bit reminiscent of Firefighters Park in Troy, as it is relatively open with some mature trees and clumps of trees, plus some recently-planted smaller trees. (Right next to it is a steep, wooded hillside down to the Huron River, which is tempting, but Ben and I both agreed that it just would not be safe.)

It's a very visible triangular piece of property, with ball fields on one side, a road on another, and a walking/biking path on the other. One major design consideration is going to have to be reducing the chances of throws which could end up on McAuley Drive, a paved road that is between WCC and the McCauley hospital.

They're going to send me some data files with a topological map of the area, etc., which I will share once I get it.

No idea yet on the time frame. This is likely something that could take until the fall, or could just "pop" and be done in a month. Cross your fingers, everyone!

P.S. It's almost certainly going to be 9 holes, with possible multiple tee pads on each.
