The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Hi, my summer school students are building a disc golf course on some land that is covered in rows of skinny red pines. I need ideas as to how golfers feel about walls built out of trees, or other obstacles built out of lumber. I wanted to build a big windmill, but the administration said no. Anyways...some ideas for obstacles and ways to take a boring piece of land and make it fun !!

Hi, Jon -

Congrats on the new course. I think raised basket areas have been used successfully in a few places. Just a small structure (landscaping timbers or concrete blocks) a few feet tall can make for an extra putting challenge. Stan McDaniel down in the Carolinas does a lot of building on some of his courses, particularly around the green. If you can get your hands on some of the Clash DVDs, his designs are prominent.

Any luck getting DGL on your local station? I haven't seen it on the schedule. Let me know how things are going when you get a chance. I think the station reaches three counties, pretty cool.

Just finishing up #30 and preparing for a mailing. 40 or so minutes of 08 USDGC, lots of great shots from round one through four. Also a NWS piece submitted by Todd Lewis.
