I will be landing in Sacramento from Japan on the 20th of November. I haven't played in the US for over 15 years. I'm looking for players in the NorCal area to get a few rounds in. From De LaVeage to Grass Valley, preferably. I will be living around Shady Oaks, Orangevalle,CA. Looking for a league and players in the open/pro divisions....

welcome back home sir, glad you are safe and your family, modesto tourney the 19th nov,and they held nor cal championships at new hogan last month,i still havent made it to stockton or sac town yet, maybe we will have to come down that way when the snow on the ground up here in sonora ca.

Well Shady always has random doubles around 1000 Mon. through Fri. You missed the night time ones (a least the ones I know of) by a week due to daylight savings.

Check out Final 9's web. for tourneys. I'm not an Open/Pro player. So I'can't help ya there.

Played Shady Oaks a few weeks back and spoke with a bunch of the locals. The course is awesome and they have a great group of very active locals. If you have a lady, they have a very active ladies group as well. There are several courses in the Orangvalle area. Charmichael, Mackey, Shady Oaks, Santa Anita, but Shady Oaks is the standout.

Check in with pro shop at Shady Oaks for more info and I'll hit you up when I come up for the St Patricks day event in March.

Hey Dookville what div. do you play? Maybe are paths will cross. That's one of my fav tournaments. It's by far one of the best run tournies I've ever played. Just not a big fan of the extra"9" on pison oak hill!

Adv Am. Not quite ready for the Open Dive yet.

I want to get up to Penn Valley to play some of the Tru Line series stuff as well. Most of my time will be spent in the southern half of the state and Az/Nv this year, but I'll get up there. Friend me and we'll exchange info.

Cool, Penn Valley is a very nice course as is the area around it (Nevada City and Grass Valley). It's a thinking mans course to a degree. You  have to play some holes backwards (upshot 1st, drive 2nd). The other nice thing, is that you have 3 courses within 15 to 30 min apart.

I found Shady Oaks to have some similar shots, I never threw so many power mids in my life. There where a few power tunnel shots, but tight flex shots where the order of the day. My daughter played in the Monarch Tourney there and won the FJ4 division, she looooved it.

Nice to see there are some Cali players on this site! I helped pour the original tees at Shady back when Jim Oates was still throwing for Lightning. I understand the Layout has changed quite a bit. I'm really excited. Penn Valley wasn't much back when I played last. Im looking forward to seeing the changes and playing there too. Hopefully we can all get together and Play!

I live down in Socal and play out of La Mirada, a very nice course. Playing up in Norcal was a blast though, will definately make the trip up to play again. Would like to get over to Tahoa and Reno to play there as well.

I hope to get down south too. Im originally from the Sacramento area. When I played out there last, there was only a handful of courses. Seems to have really started expanding. Anytime youre up my way drop me a line. I hope to meet up with Harold at New Hogan for sure.

Ya if it's been 15yrs. It's changed a bit, but for the good. There are also quite a few new course up in Tahoe. Zepher and Bijou are still the tops imo, but there is Squaw, Truckee and I think the newest is in Northstar. The latter two are still pretty raw. Combine the alt. and the terrain, the are a trek.

If you are headed toward the bay area. Stafford still rocks! and Golden Gate Park is pretty world class. Oh and Skyline Wilderness Park in Napa will give you a run for your money. It's not very long, but you need every throw in your bag. Nothing worse than a "Napa roller", were a missed putt turns into a 200' upshot! Arrrrgh!

As for Shady, they did stretch out some holes and it's still a tuff course. Just get there early (before 1000), because it can get pretty busy and you'll be waiting for a bit on the 1st few holes. However it does start to flow after hole 5.

Well if you play GGP and don't mind playing with an AM. Let me know? I also make it up to Sacto a least 3 to 4 times a month. The Penn Valley, Condon, and Auburn run would be cool to do. Might even have some energy left to play Rocklin?

Peace!!

Thanks for the info Rescue! I have no problem playing with anyone regardless of division. Ive been playing with the top guys here in Japan for the past few years, and am pretty anxious to see where I stand with the Pro/Open guys Stateside. Sounds like hole four at Shady still causes a back up. It would be great to play a Gold Pan run. Ill drop you a line when I get into town. Thanks again!
