The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

On our round last Saturday, we encountered a father/son duo and what appeared to be a mother/son duo playing Cedar Hill together.  In fact, I seem to be noticing more and more families spending time together playing this sport.  I hope this trend continues.  I'm wondering if the disc golf programs at elementary schools is paying off?  Anyone else seeing more families playing?

My wife is an elementary school teacher and her school is starting to teach disc golf in gym class. I assume that if the school in rural Alburgh Vt is including disc golf then I would say the answer to your question is Yes.

Check out Adam Sinkus' Parents of Disc Golfers Group.

SWFL NorthCharlotte regional DG course is experiencing a great family turnout any given Sunday afternoon till evening.Week day has also increased from late afternoon till sundown.Late day light is encouraging perhaps.Since our dg course will lose at least 7-9 baskets to another baseball field for college NCAA March tourney play. There has been a great increase of all ages discovering this course due to alerting the local news about this somewhat underhand move from the county commish.Parks rec division has been cut to bare bones.

The original parks rec fellow to install the course is on hand reworking the dg course with input from us.9 holes were to be added anyway bringing the toal to 27,but we're still fighting to maintain at least 18.

There also has been a nice increase of retired seniors playing, bringing out their grandchildren as well.Fl might be the land of white hairs, but there are many active seniors discoverying this sport.Trying to incorporate the disc golf scene into their Seniors Olympics is awork in progress.

A group of 7+ including 2 women and 1 small child played Lakeshore this afternoon (45 F high, windy).
Very cool.  Thanks.
I've long maintained that the senior demographic is one that needs to be encouraged to play this sport.  Sorry to hear about your park troubles.
i see this a lot while playing on my home course, granted that it is in a rich neighborhood, but still. I see old folks in groups, familys, and couples hitting the course all the time.
My regular foursome likes to get out early in the morning so we are not pushed by fast players or slowed too much by slow groups or beginners.  But, really, I don't mind waiting on them, its very cool to see the families playing disc golf together.  Also, i keep meeting the coolest dogs.  One guy brings a dog that runs to his disc after he throws it, and alerts him to its location.  Man, I love that dog.
My wife isn't as interested as I wish she was, but my 9yr old son likes to come out with me. I have him hooked up with a Innova standard bag, and I have plenty of extra discs to set him up with some options in the bag. He wants some quad straps or at least Innova straps cuz dad has a backpack bag and "extra" Innova bags with the straps. He just wants to be like dad.....but could ya blame him??? LOL I think it's great he throws with me, good quality time together and NOT inside or playing video games, because I'm not much of a gamer....except out on the course.
I play with my kids every weekend!!! 7 and 4!!! They love it!!!!!
I love it when My wife and kids come along, My wife is very good! My 4 year old girl can throw around 30 feet, and roll to around 60-80. My 2.5 year old girl just carries a disc.... and the 2.5 week old girl just gets carried.
my family and I have been playing together for a little over a year and it is great!  My son loves to go and play with me more than my wife and daughter do, at least we are together as a family when we do play.
Including your wife, I counted 4 girls that you live with.  That, my brother, is brave. ;)
