No shortage of proposals
Ideas to use $825b range from zoo exhibits to porn
By Robert Gavin, Globe Staff | January 20, 2009

Long before House Democrats unveiled an $825 billion economic stimulus bill last week, states, communities, and special interests from coast to coast lined up to show that they can spend that money fast - on everything from beaches to polar bears.

Amid proposals for roads, bridges, sewers, and water treatment plants, are scores of plans for unconventional projects. The city of Dayton, Ohio, wants $1.5 million to fight prostitution. Austin, Texas, wants to construct a 36-hole course for Frisbee throwers at a cost of nearly $900,000. In Ventura, Calif., officials want to stimulate the economy with $6 million in improvements to Surfers Point beach.

The picture is my creation but the article is real!
