so i've been playing for some time and now am starting to look into getting discs from different makers, mainly have been using innova, but i have the problem that i dont know what plastics are similar to each other (i.e. innova's champion, star, dx; discraft's pro-d, elite-x, elite-z, esp; ching power and supreme lines; latitude 64's grip, opto, gold, core, zero; etc) can anyone tell me which ones are like/similar to each other?

tl;dr which plastics from different companies are similar?

Nailed it!!!
Premium plastic: Champ, Z, and Opto
Premium with grip, but not as durable. However, tend to be more overstable at first: ESP, Star, and Gold Line.
I haven't thrown the Pro-D, X, DX in quite some years. So I can't give you any current info on them.
I have a mish mash of ESP, Star, Gold Line, Champ, and Z plastics. For the most part. My high speed stuff (drivers) are in ESP, Star, and Gold. Due to the better grip and a little extra distance those plastic offer. The rest (mids) are in the Z and Champ for durabillity.
Stay away from CE plastic, because once you try it. All other plastic sucks! lol!! Oh, and it costs big $$
The Grip has to feel just right. Some folks have large fingers , while others have smaller fingers , so the grip will vary from player to player.

Experiment and see whats right for you.
