Im really into the sport and want to start competing in tourneys. Whats the benefits of going Pro or Am? Can anyone do it?

Yes, anyone can do either.  You choose your status.

In sanctioned tournaments, pros win cash, ams win merchandise.

Entry fees are often lower for ams.  PDGA membership is $75 for pros, $50 for ams.

Not surpisingly, competition is stiffer in the pro divisions.

There are other differences, but these are some of the basics.

(Caveat on my first sentence.  One you accept cash as a pro, you're categorized as a pro.  If your rating is under 970, you can still enter tournaments as an am.)

My advice is to start as an am.  You can then get the lay of the land and decide whether you want to go pro.
