PRO OR AM ????

When do you start playing pro I feel like I can play with the pro's.not winning maybe last cash ( but taking disc's so i can go to am worlds) or should i stay am till i go to worlds ?Some of the local pro's say i should move up but is it just to make the pot of gold bigger for them.Today is a tourament what should i do

sOUNDS LIKE YOU KNOW THE ANSWER. You want to play the AM world's. So don't juice the Pro pot unless you plan on taking money if you win. I play pro in my local tourneys just because I want a shot at $$$$$. I have plenty of disc already and i am not a member of the PDGA so I play where and when I want and with what I choose to wear.

play in whatever division you have a competive chance of winning in....if you never learn how to win and all your looking to do is "take last cash" thats all you'll ever do....all of us, every single one of us on this web sight has skill, whats the point in not learning how to win...example......to keep a lead...to hit that big putt on 18 that ties it up and moves the whole thing to extra holes, thats tournament play, whether it pro or am, that what we play tournements for...that oppurutuinty....play in the division that gives you that oppurtunity. jmtc

I am a bit old school so I have never played as an Am. I was brought up playing sports all my life and the one thing my Dad drilled into me is the BEST way to improve you game is to play against the best. In my mind you aren't proving anything by beating people you should beat any way. That's not competition it's sandbagging.

If only beating the best player is worth doing, then the only events where that's possible is wherever Dave Feldberg is playing. So if Feldberg isn't at your event, you might as well play against players near your skill level since a win in Open is no more meaningful in the big picture than a win in Advanced, Intermediate or Novice. Having fun is still an important reason to play most events unless you're a touring player.

Don't be an Estenfelder with a rating over 1000 and still play am. Move up when 1 of 3 things happens. 1) you dominate the competition of adv players. 2) You want to play pro and see how you fair (As long as your rating is under 970 as a pro you can still play in am tournaments including am nationals and worlds. 3) your rating is over 970.

WOW !!!! My rating is 970 !!!! I could never play Am though !!!! I would never hear the end of it !!!!
