The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I just picked the disc up today and was told its what was called a pulse ss. I know discraft never massively produced it. All I can say about this disc is that from the few times I have thrown it I love it. Feels very similar to my esp pulse. Only difference I have noticed is the rim is a little thicker on the regular pulse. The flight is really nice. Super long with very little fade in the end when thrown flat. Has just enough stability to flatten out when thrown on an anhyzer. If this disc was pdga approved it would deffinitly become my go to driver. Has anyone else thrown this disc and what did you think?

I would think a pulse SS would be a surge.

to me it is less stable than the surge and feels better in my hands.

never heard of it

are you sure it's not one of the first runs? They were pretty flippy.

My first Run Pulse is Super Flippy compared to my others. I defintly can flip it over hard and it holds the line compared to my other Pulses.

the rim on the ss is not the same as the regular pulse. the regular pulse has a curve to the underside of the rim the ss is flat.

I will try to get my hands on a decent camera. The pics I tried to take with my camera are coming out fuzzy.

I'm guessing the disc you have is a modified Pulse that was featured for the One Disc Challenge.

The opening session of the Ann Arbor Wednesday Night League for the past few years has been known as the One Disc Challenge. Players who attend and sign up for the League get a League package ( disc, shirt, mini) and a free prototype disc. Players use the proto disc for all shots during the round that first night and awards are given out for the best scores.

The modified Pulse was never PDGA approved or put into a production run because it was too speed dependent. It flew just fine at certain speeds but was too overstable at slow speeds and too flippy at high speeds.

yeah that one was in flx plastic only. I have one of them. This disc I am talking about is in esp.

Yes I called it a Pulse SS to define it by what it would likely be called, since it fits the SS pattern.
