Is the course set up like it was for USDGC all year long? A couple of us are gonna make a trip out there and wanted to play it the same way they did. We wanna see how badly it destroys us.

Then you had better bring a few hundreds miles of yellow rope with you.

What makes Winthrop Gold the challenge it is, is the omnipresent Out-of-Bounds. Your drives, your upshots and even your putts are at risk.

Imagine if you played a hole on a long, narrow peninsula where there was water on both sides of the fairway and the basket sits on the far tip of the peninsula. You have to get distance on your drives but if they finish a little bit too left or a little bit too right they slide OB. Most of the holes at Winthrop Gold are designed like this, with yellow rope substituting for water.

Winthrop is just a nice course. Winthrop Gold ( Winthrop Yellow Roped) is one of the best and most exacting courses in the world. It is not just the fact that lots of danger exists. The ropes are brilliantly positioned. No one gets an easy out. It doesn't matter if you are righty or lefty or how much power you have, you still have to control your shots, especially the finish of your shots.
Not even close. Maybe five holes can be played without needing the 2 miles of yellow rope, pine bales and special OB markings used for the USDGC layout.
So that would be a NO. I know it supposed to be an amazing course. I kinda wanted to face the dreaded yellow rope.
LOL.....Just play the course and flip a coin every time your disc lands. Heads its fair, tails you are OB! OH BTW don't forget stroke and distance....
That would be a funny way to play. But I know my skill level. Do they make a 2 Tailed coin?
