The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

One of the tournaments we have in the Columbia, SC area is the Earlewood Classic. It
have always been a popular tournament that usually fills up in 3-4 days. This year all
registration was done on-line through ZoneDriven.com. Registration started on February 3rd
at 9:00am. By 4:00pm, the tournament was filled up (90 entries) with a growing waiting list!
Anyone have a tournament that filled up in in less than 7 hours?

Well, I guess I'll scratch that event off my list.

Wow! Seven hours.... that is impressive. How long before the event did you start registration?

I played in the Memorial one year and I know that one fills a month or so before the event.

We split the Cracked Plastic into a two day event with different divisions playing on each day because it always filled. It usually took a few weeks to fill when it was just one day.
We started registration on February 3rd. The tournament is March 7th & 8th.
We will be playing two 18-hole rounds each day. Can see what the course
is like by going to www.columbiadiscgolfclub.com and click on the link
for Earlewood Park.
last year's hawk hollow open filled in 4 hours.
4 hours!!! Talk about impressive! Just solidifies the fact that disc golf is truly a
growing sport! So far this year, I have seen more people playing than I ever have
before. A few years ago, you may have seen 3-4 other people out on the course
but now it's more like 30-40! Just yesterday as I was waiting on a friend to show up
there were 4 groups that teed off at the first hole in a matter of 20 minutes. And
there were quite a few that were already playing.
yep, it was nuts.

good luck with the event at earlewood- i used to attend every year back when i actually travelled for disc golf. earlewood remains my favorite short course ever.
Earlewood is a very nice course. Luckily I only live about 20 minutes away and
consider it my home course. The other course in Columbia, Owens Field, is the
complete opposite. It is an evil course that is really difficult and very humbling.
A lot of people simply won't throw there. 90% of the time I go there, I leave cussing
the place! But hopefully it will make me a better player someday.
7 hours is pretty fast !!!!
