The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I played my first tournament ever a couple weeks ago at a local course. The club that hosts the event has posted my ratings for the 27 hole round. They have given me a player rating of 897. I played in the novice division and my score was on par with the only other guy in novice. I noticed that my score was better than about half of the intermediate players and a few of the open guys. Should I move up or continue a few more times in the novice class? I have been playing DG for about 4 months now.

If you're a pdga member then the 897 will become your rating on the next update, March 29th, if you play more they may be calulated in too. A player rated 870-899 is required to play at least Rec (am3), while 900-935 is at least Int(am2), and 935+ is Adv(am1).

play where your rating allows you to play unless you really want to move up. Also, did you play the same tees as the other divisions?? this may be why you scored the same as open players. The ratings sometimes (actually the TD) may not incorporate this into the scoring/ratings.
