The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Just wondering if anybody has or has had this issue.

Currently we're rebuilding one of our courses and changing the layout.  Typically we have 10-20 people show up for leagues (Wed Dubs and Sat Singles).  The ADGA has suspended all leagues until our new course is done.  We've reached out and told everybody about what is going and why.  Our work parties have had an average of 4 or 5 people showing consistently out of 50+ active members.  I think this is complete and total BS and I don't know what to do about it.  Do any of you folks know another way to approach this or am I just venting and this won't make a difference?

I know it is volunteer time, but all of them play these courses just as much as those that show up to the work parties.  As far as I'm concerned they have NO excuse as to why they're not there.  Especially since they know what is going on and they're playing at other courses and logging scores on discgolfscene.com during the days we're working.  It is not from a lack of trying or a lack of communication either.  We have all this posted on our website and all of play together and call each other all the time.  Now it is hard to get a hold of anybody during this...which seems convenient.

We're only asking for a few hours, it is not like we're asking people to show up for the whole time that it is scheduled.  All of the hard back breaking work is done so it is just the easy stuff left now.

Same thing happens at our course. We have had a few work days where more people show up but not in a long time. All that you can do is post it up and get the word out. Our last work day we managed to get about 6 people to show up.
If we had a 1/2 the people that normally show up to leagues, we'd be done with the course already. It kills me too, because some of them are asking about when the course is going to be done. My response is "if you would've shown up for the work parties you'd know all this information"

They haven't been very responsive to this answer and it appears that I become the bad guy all the sudden. I really don't care what they think anymore. What chaps my ass even further is that EVERYONE of them will be there the day the course is open and ready play.
Bribery usually helps. Try a couple of six packs for the crew at the end of the work session. It seems to make the work easier. Once the word gets out you may find more guys dropping be to help.
Seems silly that we have to do that as they all seem to be about expanding disc golf in Alaska. I understand what you're saying though.
As soon as YOU are done doing all the hard, thankless work you can be sure to check their scores on said course later that day...
