The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Do you think that Disc golf will ever be a nationally recognized sport? If so how long do you think it will take? I am talking about when will it become more main stream? Maybe on ESPN or FOX sport regularly? I am sure it is just a matter of time. Maybe 5-10 years?

The thing about poker on TV is ............... the gambling industry is interested in getting your sons and daughters and perhaps you hooked on stepping up to the table and throwing your money in ............ just like the cigarette industry .......... just try it once ........ it won't hurt you ............. the sports channels and anyone else broadcast this luring device should be ashamed that they are part of this lurid addictive dangerous to your health industry
Of course, disc golf would never be considered addicting... ;-)
not in a way considered to be a health risk and as u gknow Chuck at our SGM age death cannot be far off
I don't know what happened to the video show ....... Disc Golf Monthly .............. it to me was a terrific way to see the competition and the different courses around the nation .......... i think they used to get the local cable companies to broadcast their shows once a month ........... i looked last night on the web for them and the only thing i could see was the latest show being summer of 2008 ........... have they gone down? don't know for sure but they did a pretty good job ........... perhaps they could be raised up again or something like them done by the PDGA crew (contract out every big tourney ) to local production crews and contract with ESPN to get them
on air once a month ........... we produce they put on .............. discraft and innova & millenium underwrite some of the costs ............use it as a 1/2 hour filler everymonth and see how it goes.
I think promotion is key. Promotion costs money. Money is the problem. I couldn't imagine what my home course would look ike with camera towers set up everywhere. How would all the shots be filmed with all the trees in the way? It is what it is because this is how the pros must want it. I am sure they would like bigger fields and bigger sponsors, but how many of them work at getting sponsorships for majors. My guess is that they are out training for said event. Which sounds perfectly reasonable because they want to cash and play well, so training makes sense. I like to watch great golf and living where i do its not hard to find. Watching a few holes of that 23 under par round that the champ shot was pretty amazing. I also saw the only par he had that round. It was hole 1, where he started. It was amazing to see this, but i love the game and to the average tv watcher, how intriguing would it be? I sometimes enjoy watching the sunday coverage of ball golf majors. I have hacked my way around a course or two. That is what makes it watchable. I know the skill it takes to make those shots. The average tv watcher would think I can throw a frisbee that far if they can. So maybe we need tv for the further growth of the sport. Funny, all this time, we thought we needed the growth of the sport to get tv coverage. Wow, now i'm confused. I don't think disc golf will be regularly televised until the image is different. I know most disc golf discussions head this way, but image might be the problem. So get a haircut, wear a collared shirt, blaze in the car before you get there, wear your shades, and smile. Kissing babies and shaking old peoples hands wouldn't hurt either. LOL. Image!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
