The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf
I am writing this post in regards to Sandy.
I live in Florida and I feel blessed.
People in Florida knows what it is like to
experience a Hurricane, Tropical Storm, or
just plain bad weather. Yet we live in the
"Sunshine State" and get to reap the rewards of
good weather most of the year.
Yet, the people and land up north is not
use to Hurricanes and many have suffered
or lost everything due to the Storm.
And the storm continues to move and many
more will suffer.
I am writing this post to tell the people up north
that they are in our thoughts and prayers.
And I am hoping that people will use this forum
to tell their stories and to get comfort from doing so.
My brother moved to New Jersery back roughly in 2001.
He too was use to Hurricanes and to him is nothing to worry
about. I heard from him, and was releived to hear that he faired
well. No power etc, but is doing well.
So to those affected by Sandy, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
May you find peace in this unsettling time.

The real deal is that skeptics better start to believe that 'climate change' is real and sadly this is only the beginning until we the stewards of the earth change our ways.
Permalink Reply by mr ed on October 31, 2012 at 9:54am Family & many friends still in Jersey,N.Central area of Middlesex county. No power, but all are ok.It's going to be a cold recovery for all.cell phone is the only way of communicating right now.Va & Pa states also have family with storm direction.Daughter in Ohio recieved snow. All are ok.
We are very fortunate to live in a state that we can still be warm enough when disaster visits/leaves.
Permalink Reply by mr ed on November 3, 2012 at 12:50pm Just a random thought/idea: Setting up some "charitable" tourney or club day that proceeds can be donated to help out those effected by recent Storm Sandy and any future catastrophe storms. One way of showing our support in 'times of trouble".This could be perhaps a small portion of collected fees during many rounds/handicap,etc.
Getting the word out to those that think it's only a "stoner/drinker" sport in the woods would lesson the bad vibe associated with our sport.
Interesting concept.
The only idea I could have would be an "Ice Bowl" and proceeds
would go to the "American Red Cross" or something like that.
Besides that I do not see a local club being able to raise enough
money to make a dent to recovering from the damges caused by the storm.
I am not a nea sayer, but most people who play Disc Golf don't have money to spare.
So any ideas.
Permalink Reply by mr ed on November 3, 2012 at 2:01pm 'Storm Bowl" would/could be the theme concept.Know exactly what you're talking with reguards of "spare money".Just a thought that's in the attic storage area of the mind,ha.This could be a yr long accumulation of funds set aside for such disasters, say $1.min to whatever.Sort of a "emergency fund" account or something along that idea way.
Might want to throw this around @ next club meeting. This would be a benefit to anyone encountering"hard times" in our real life dealings locally even.
A "Stormy Challenge"...not in reguards to Patty's aka,but then again...see ya on the fairway.Stay healthy/safe my friend.
Hey DD, you are great person, to spread blessing to the people up north. I to had family in NJ, and my hopes and prayers, are with them. Hey, to everybody on the east coast, Bless you and hope that everything will work out for you. We had a lot of help last year, with the flood here in ND. Thank you for your support.

One of many small towns,1 square mile, that have recieved damage.Nothing like the Jersey shore, but still it's "winter time"up North, and people are cold.
