The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I'm organizing a program for school kids. We plan build a new course in the next year, and we're hoping to make discs and portable pole holes available to 4 schools so kids can get familiar with the game. The course is expected to be paid for by grants and matching funds, however, there is no money available for this project.

I would appreciate help any golfers, clubs, or suppliers would like to provide. This would be a great use for used discs that are collecting dust, have minor flaws, or are unclaimed in lost and founds. We also need 4-8 pole holes in usable condition.

The goal is to make discs available for recess at the elementary and middle schools, and for intermurals at jr. and sr. high schools. We'd also like to be able to give a free disc to each student when the course opens to encourage play.

This is a small rural town with a constant 20-25% unemployment rate with little for the kids to do. Disc golf will be a fantastic activity in a safe environment, and there is strong support from the city gov. to provide land and matching start up funds.

Anyone interested in helping can contact me at texasbuckeyenut77465@yahoo.com Thanks

have you contacted at disc golf club near by?
I am contacting many groups. This is just a convenient way to reach many people and clubs easily. It will be easier to reach our goal finding many small donors of used plastic than trying to get a few sponsors to provide alot of new discs. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
I was also trying to get used discs for our local players for come and try days and things but i was having little luck so what i was doing was i found someone who sells discs and worked out a deal with them.
What we would do is give a discount on new discs if they would trade in a old disc when buying a new disc and that way they would still make profit and i would get second hand discs. I also explained that the more people that borrow discs then there is a good chance they would need to buy some down the track and i would make sure i would point them in the right direction.
Just an idea.
would love to help you with this but I am already involved with a teacher here in SC that I give all my old plastic to and help him acquire plastic from any one I can. By the way if you cannot get your hands on baskets you can always teach them the game, good form and etiquette using object tees. Good luck!
