The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

It seems that with today's economy being what is is, it seems harder for people to donate and/or sponsor CTPs for local club events and tournaments with new plastic or accessories. I don't think the Junior or Rec players mind getting some new DX plastic at 8 bucks a pop, but the higher divisions aren't going to be too stoked. Someone told me that they won a burned copy of "The Godfather". I thought that was a pretty cool idea. Anyone have any other ideas?
Good luck to everyone in 2009!

a CTP should be whatever someone wants to donate. I've seen everything from water bottles, googles, discs, coupons for strip clubs, blow-up dolls, lottery tickets and so on. It shouldn't matter what it is. It's a donated item and it can be fun to win. Its all a reward for getting closer than anyone else.
I agree with Tino. It doesn't matter what you win, just that you win. As long as it's not a my little pony or a piece of sh.. people don't care. They just want it. A cool FREE idea is a stroke. I would not recommend giving away burned copies of anything, especially in any sort of organized tourney. You never know who might say something.
Distributing pirated copies of movies or music might not be the way to go. Could become a really expensive CTP.
I saw a whole box of porn once. They made sure it was an adults only toss.
there is a invite only tournament here in MI where alot of the ctp's and prizes are non disc golf related

there is a one ctp that you have to put a nug of ganj in to get in on the "pot"

winning is winning no matter what it is
Just about anything can make a good CTP prize.

One of the best CTP prizes I ever saw was a 1.75 litre bottle of JB scotch that had it's glass handle broken so they wrapped the whole thing in clear packing tape.

We are also keen on awarding super lame DFL prizes.
For weeklys and monthlys we take a quarter to a dollar per person from the payout, depending on how big the buy-in is. Per division amount is determined by how many in the division, Easy. Everybody loves a cash payout. Donations are added from time to time.
at league sometimes we get mcdonalds cards.
I want discs and anything that people or businesses wish to contribute. In Kalamazoo we had so many sponsors for our Thursday night league that there was something to win on almost every hole. Sometimes there would be multiple prizes on one hole.

Northern waters has one fat ctp giveaway for each division. I think that works well too.
I don't like to look a gift horse in the mouth. Weather it be DG related prize or not is not important to me. I have not won many tournaments but I've won a bunch of CTP's. It's a great consolation prize & I enjoy the challenge.
I hear ya, Yeddie.
Thanks for the comments everyone...alot of great ideas!
At our league we have CTPs for free lunch at a local market, 50/50, and one for a disc or accessory sponsored by our club. At our tournaments we usually get Big Boy to donate a lunch for two, as well as one dinner for two. Everybody loves those and is usually hungry when we are done. It takes a small amount of leg work to get local businesses to donate some stuff like that, and it is well worth the effort.
