Side Money Bets

When you and your friends or league are playing do you make it interesting. Here we like to play for skins. Then little bonus stuff like;
Collect $1 from every player in the group for metal hits from the tee.
Collect $10 from every player in the group for an ace.
Then on the bad side;
Pay every player in the group $1 if you fall down during play.
Pay every player in the group $5 if you get a black ace.

Well, are any of these sound familiar, or do you have some others to add to the list?

Side bets are fun. I like Money!! Cash won is always sweeter than cash earned. Sometimes you really feel like you had to earn those strokes though huh. Peace

HA... one of the tournaments I played at there was a strange side bet. There was a kid that has been playing longer than I have and he was talking a bunch of crap leading up to the tournament. I had been playing everyday for months and had gotten a hell of a lot better. One of the course pros made a side bet with me and the kid that talking himself up. It wasn't much, the pro put like $10 down saying that I would bet the kid out by at least 10 strokes. Both of us did well in the tournament but I did pull it off and won by 12... now in terms of the normal side bets. we also the same as what you described execpt we did $1 for metal & $5 for an ace. Black ace is the same...

My two brothers and I have a long running skins game that is up to a few hundred dollars now, its been going on for over two years. Every time we get together one of us starts talking smack and then its on, we end up betting on every thing: How many strokes under we'll be (or over), how much further one person can out drive the next on the following shot, how many disc we'll loose, all sorts of random stuff. As a matter of fact I think we may actually need help, any one have the number for gamblers anonymous! Unfortunately no money has really exchange hands for too long as we always give the looser a chance to win their money back the following game and my brother Andrew and I are fairly evenly matched, now Jason on the other hand I think he's paid for my lunch plus drinks every time we play for the last two years. Oh ya by the way I'm Irish so that's not cheap!

Almost no round outside of a tourney goes without a side bet. It makes it more like competition having to earn every stroke and make the match that much more intense. Dropping a 40ft putt hyzered around a tree is just that much sweeter when it earns you some green. As for value its either $1 a hole skins or $10 for the round total score. Same ace rules apply too

Usually throw an over under out there for number of O.B.'s on a card, or something like that.
When playing doubles, I play a side bet with my partner, like this, if using my drive and his put is thirty plus and he misses it, then I make it, he owes me a buck, if I miss it, nothing. If inside of thirty, no side bet. Only contingent on us winning some money, if we don't at least place, all side bets are off.

I like that, but I could see it putting some undue pressure on my partner to miss a putt that could help us cash.

If you drive at a basket and throw it in the wrong one, A) You're perhaps confused, and B) The course is set up rather poorly, isn't it?
