The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Ok so I figure that my form is more of the issue here but I'm looking for a quick fix.

I have an issue with the hyzer release, do to wrist injury from back in the day. It just hurts to do it more then a few times. So when I try to forehand a mid with flat release it just flips over and slaps in the dirt early. I'm using the Ace Race Hornet because it the most overstable mid I own. So I figured I would check on here to see if anybody could suggest a mid that I could sling. One that I can buy without jumping threw hoops lol, I know some of you guys will say first run gators and stuff like that.

I have found that I get much more snap on my forehand shots then my backhand so I turn over over stable discs as well.  my solution is not one that I recomend for most people but I have been teaching myself to be ambidextrous since I was young but I throw left handed.  It actually works pretty well I have thrown over 300 feet and I have gotten pretty accurate as well I have had a few lefty ace runs also I get injured in a tourney i can finish it left handed and only loose a few strokes.
Yeah I'm forehanding now because my backhand is causing me pain, some kind of inflammation below the shoulder keeps me from pulling all the way back. So turnover shots have become painful. I can sling a star katana sidearm out there over 300 but its the short range sidearm shots that I'm looking to find. I have just been using a star boss for short range but the skip is killing me sometimes. I don't think I can pull off the lefty thing but I might try just for fun.
I first tried it with disc golf after hurting my elbow during a tag round and I had to throw left handed for a 22 hole round to finish.  I shot only 10 strokes higher then right handed.  My brother is a lefty and I have out drove him lefty. I have never seen anyone else do this but I recommend trying it out during practice first.  It is a great shot to have in your arsenal even if its just once a month.  Also I go through times where my forehand is not accurate at all
I know of one guy who is a righty buy plays disc golf lefty, and he can bomb them in the 400+ range.
I played with a guy who lost his right arm in an accident and thew lefty he was pretty good but he never broke 300
I have been throwing a drone sidearm. A buzzz is fairly controable though. I would say start with the buzzz and after you get the release down go back to the hornet.
Not being able to control discs forehand is a victim of just that, not being able to control it.  Sometimes when you think you're throwing flat you are really yanking your wrist over.  You should get a video of it.
I have seen Nikko Locastro on youtube throw both left and right handed also.  To me thats amazing!
Yeah forhanding i midrange disc is actually a very difficult shot.  I think Eirik hit it on the nose, its all about the wrist.  As you follow through a forehand shot, your wrist will natually ( unlike a back hand) turn over. Try to keep your palm facing the clouds after you snap your wrist. combine this with your elbow tucked in to your gut.  Its  an akward feel but it works.
I am lefty so I flick alot due to the large amounts of righty holes on courses and I too have a difficult time flicking midranges. Even my San Marino Q Sentinnel will flip over ! Try flicking a very stable putter (Pig , Champ Rhyno, and Vibram VP)
I have been throwing side arm/forehand for years and I find that the best disc to use for a mid range is not a mid range at all, it's a light Firebird, a 161 to be exact. Most mid ranges aren't over stable enough or just don't get the results I need. But if you must have a mid range, I would try a Discamnia Gremlin or a Discraft Zone.
I can shortrange a boss but the skip has been killin me sometimes. Do the firebirds have any skip issues
