The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I have a bunch of players around me including a small group that I play regular with. So very basic question How do I start a league? Were do I begin and what are logistics of one? I live in a heavy college town with four accessible courses. If money is in valved it needs to be low cost! Thanks to anyone  who will post!!!!!

Call your first meeting and create an organizing committee.

Obviously you need a time, location and format. But what you really need are volunteers to make it happen.

In a volunteer organization those who do the most work get the biggest voices, which is how it should be. So while many people may offer ideas, those who pledge to do the work are those whose preferences count the most. And once the league starts operating, those who do the actual work are those who need to hold the authority to make decisions. And the workers need to be given the respect their efforts deserve.

It is easy to launch a plan. It is real effort to keep it afloat. So seek out motivated, reliable and dedicated players to handle the duties. But even the most dedicated of persons has limits on their time and efforts so always be on the lookout for new talent. Good organizations are always recruiting and grooming future leaders.

The more that the workload gets distributed the longer you will hold onto your best workers. So plan both short term and long term. From small leagues grow big clubs. Who knows, one day your club might host a major tournament or a World Championships.
