Hs anyone played both of these courses? I am taking a road trip through Iowa and wanted to play a course on the way through and I am torn between Ewing and Sugar Bottom.I have heard only good things from people about Ewing but I thought Sugar Bottom looked like a lof of fun to from the DGCR site. Anybody have some input for me?

I believe they are having a tournament in the Des Moines area this weekend where they play 4 different courses and Ewing is one of them. There is an online tour of that course and I think that it is a pretty cool course. I'll see if I can find the link.

Check out all of these courses. If you follow the links you can get a tour of at least three of those courses.
Sugar Bottom All the Way!!!! It is on the Coralville Reservoir so there is a swimming beach, mountain bike trails, a shelter with small playground and a full service campground right next door.

On the other side of the same Coralville Reservoir is the Turkey Creek DGC. It is next to an even larger (and better) swimming beach and campground complex. There is a shelter and small playground as well.

Turkey Creek is closer to 1- 10 if you only have time for one.

Ewing is nice, but it is in a regular city type park on manicured grass with open style holes (lots of park type trees, no heavy woods) . Both SugarBottom and Turkey Creek DG courses are located in super large recreation areas and have areas designated for disc golf ONLY. SB and TC have wide open holes and wooded holes. SB has elevation changes as well.

If you were going to play a course in Des Moines area, Walnut Ridge would be the one to play. It is like SB & TC in that it is part of a large recreation complex and has a more wilderness feel to it with open and wooded holes as well.

FYI - I lived in Iowa City for 12 years and ran tournaments at both courses. Sugarbottom was the first course I ever played!!! ENJOY!
Edit - OOOPS! I lived in Iowa for 12 years - Iowa City for 9 years
