The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I'm new to disc golf and have a Archangel DX by Innova at the moment. I'm wanting more distance out of my drive because at the moment I'm only throwing about 270. Remember I've only been playing for about a month. Would you guys suggest a disc for me? Something that doesn't fade too much or have too much spin. Also I plan on buying either a Star or Champion driver this time too.

DX Teebird is money for a standard driver and a max D driver.
Love the DX TeeBird. I had a great shot with it yesterday. You just have to be prepared to buy 3 or 4 over the course of a summer. Star TeeBird is also a great disc.
I've been told to stay in the 160's for more control so you're right on and thanks for the advice.
You will get about 20+ more feet with the Vision over the Sidewinder. I still carry both, but my Sidewinder is more overstable than a standard one (uber flat top). Some others to consider...Striker (Lat. 64). Valkirye, a must imo, because even as you get better. This will be a disc you never grow out of. Orc, Beast, Wraith are some others. I've never been fond of Discraft drivers. After trying them all. The Nuke is the only one I REALLY dig.
When it comes to todays plastic. Latitude 64 has the best out there. Their Gold Line (like Star or ESP) is bullet proof, plus it's gorgious. The Opto (Champ or Z) is also bullet proof, grippy, and has some flexability. It's just, at this time. You will find a disc made by some company that will fit the bill for any throw. So for me. The tie breaker is the plastic and Lat 64 just happens to make the best at this point...IMO.
I love the champ valk and dx valk.

I agree with Rescue when it comes to Lat64's plastic; I just bought a fuse in opto and gold and they're awesome plastics.
sidewinder, roadrunner, valk
discraft spectra!!!!
man, i just started sidearming that disc, and i love it!
I love my sidewinder. I think alot of new players look for a better disc but an archangel should work just. What i think you should be more focused on is form and accuracy. When i started all i wanted to do was throw far. Now that im there i realize how much more important accuracy is. No disc will drasticly improve your distance but good form will take you a long way. I played with a kid who was 8 and he had flawless form and was throwing bosses out to 250, and he was 8! Discraft has some good videos with form.
I'm going to say this. Go slow with buying discs. When everyone first gets involved they want the bigger badder drivers and I was the same way. because of that I'm taking this summer to backtrack. I was throwing a teerex, wraith, boss and katana all about 280-320 feet (in that order) and not getting anymore distance with anything I tried. I stepped down to a valk, sidewinder, and monster and in one week I'm throwing all of them just as far and the valk further. I like my wraith a lot but if your coach said sidewinder I say sidewinder.

Its a great disc and in the long run will be better for your technique and keep you from having to backtrack. Also, once the sidewinder is beat in you'll have a nice roller for later. I myself am even thinking of moving to a Leopard or Teebird.
I've done the same thing. I've bought almost a couple hundred discs in the past year without having a coach. Now I've dropped a lot of discs and just threw mids for the longest time and now consistently throw a DX Teebird as my main driver and a champ Teebird for more wooded areas. I've also started buying more plastic in lighter weights and have noticed a difference. Take your time and listen to your coach since you're lucky enough to have one. I'm sure we all assure you that you'll be a much better player for it.
A pro line Starfire. This disc will get you more distance. The Pro line plastic is good for beginners, it might be a little stable at first but after a few rounds it will be a great. It cant hert to try a few different discs you will always have them and if you dont like them trade them.
