McAfee and if you are a Comcast customer (only choice here), you get it for free. Norton is a PIG. Left 3 years ago and have never looked back.
Free AVG.
You can always check http://www.Cnet.com for the latest and greatest Free AntiVirus Software.
No Norton.
I was looking into AVG...it's free...but how good is it? ... A dude from Miami suggested it when I asked him a couple of weeks ago...he's an IT guy. I was wondering about bit defender, Vibre...and a couple of others though.

I like free...free is good.....free rocs....lol!!
AVG works great. (Free)
Did you check the Cnet reviews?
Cnet is the only place who can recommend a better (free) one than AVG.
If you have to spend $$ on something, buy a good registry mechanic program.
You will like AVG better than Norton....and the price fits in your budget!
My suggestion as a computer gamer and a best buy employee is Kaspersky. Great coverage tons of updates and low on mem usage.

Here's some reviews of the best free ones. Hope this helps.
