teaching is giving

i love playing. ive seen my best day but now i have the opportunity to show others great days.

this sport is fun competitve social event. i think it gives us a chance to show others class and competition at the same time.we can polish or roughen in this arena . discgolf is a perfect venue

to accell and teach. so dont just play      learn    and    teach

I gave a couple of new guys some tips on driving last week, then gave them a couple of old drivers I had in the trunk.Saw the same 2 guys yesterday, they were using the drivers and throwing about 75 feet further. They were VERY happy.

I was thinking . . . of having a local event that would be free and co-sponsered by the local hospital (we have the only hospital for about 50 miles in any direction).

The basics of the event . . .

does your doc say you need to walk? Yes.
Do you hate to just walk? Yes.
Come out and play disc golf, a healthy sport. YES!

The basic idea is to get people over the age of 30 who do not exercise and help them to get healthy. I lost 15 pounds or so just disc golfing, and eating poorly, not to mention all my blood tests were much better. I suspect that this summer will be even more weight loss.

Get people out and teach how to throw and play, get the local pro out there.

I would have several discs that people could borrow. Maybe talk with the local store owner (who is a friend) and take some discs out and sell them. Maybe even get the hospital to front some $$ for discs with their logo and such on them. I am thinking of just having some ROCs or Buzzzs, basic midrange stuff that you can drive, up, and putt with.

Anyhoo this has been bouncing around my mind.

Any suggestions.

especially if you can involve charity somhow
the ball golfers have mastered this mixing it with charity
