The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf
It is now election time for PDGA Board Members. I am often asked for recommendations, and this year (as last year during the campaign season) I will offer some comments.
I’m a Board Member now. Five of the seven current members are Pros (including myself), but about 80% of the PDGA membership are Amateurs. I see this as a serious problem. It is hard to correct it because it is much more likely for Pros to have “name recognition”, a prime requisite for electability.
I am not recommending that you only vote for Amateurs, because it is certainly possible for Pros to champion Amateur causes. However, Amateur causes have not done well during my tenure on the Board. I do recommend that you vote for candidates who have specifically expressed concern for the Amateur portion of our membership.
There are two who have done this. They are Ed Gonzales and Mike Solt.
I’ll see many of you at Worlds. I’ll be there a week early, practicing the Legends courses. Please come by and let me know your thoughts about disc golf in general and the PDGA in paerticular.
