The Brotherhood of the Traveling Disc.......

Greetings DGRUS World,

 

    Cassidy aka "Wicked Dyes" started something interesting.  He created "The DGRUS Great Disc Adventure".  With this concept he asks " A club to track the Great Disc Adventure.   If a disc labeled with The DGRUS Great Disc Adventure is found please take a photo and post it on here along with your name/ date/ and location found then leave it for another to find".

On the underside of the disc put:

DO NOT RETURN

Take photo of you using the disc

Go to:

upload photo and leave name, date, and location

Now sign disc and leave for someone else to find and use!

 

Once you have sent out a disc for the first time please create a discussion with the Disc Name, Color, Stamp (distinguishing marks) as the tittle.

 

This is a great concept.  A way to track a lost disc.  But I would like to start something similiar yet different.  I am taking Cassidy's idea and taking it a step further.  I am stuck here in Florida.  And realistically, will be for a long time.  I would love to travel and experience many different places and Disc Golf Courses.  But since I can not, there is nothing that says that I can't sent a disc of mine all over the place.  What am I talking about ?

       I will need to find a friend in each state.  This DGRUS Friend has to befriend me, send me their address via private mail (I will not spam it, and I'll only send it to the person needing it) and promise to do the following.......

* Upon receiving the disc, take it to their local Course.

* Take a picture of themself holding the Disc in front of their Course Sign

* Play the course using the Disc when possible

* Upon returning home, go to this discussion, post the picture, and write a little story about it at their course

* Mail the Disc to the Next person on the list.

Silly question.  I have noticed that it is difficult to get people to help in my quest. 

I have been looking for and asking people from different states, and people are not replying.

And there are a couple of you that could play two states because of where you live.

I guess that you do not have a problem traveling or playing mulitple courses.

If so, thank you for going the extra mile in my quest.

It just means more pictures and another story.

You should have everyone add their signature to the disc also. Just have them write small since it will be a lot if sigs.

Initials do take up less space.

But initials are not personal enough.

I want everyone to feel like they are contributing and getting credit for their hard work.

I just ask that everyone uses a "Sharpie", write small, and do not interfere with the dye job.

But the disc is an Elite Z plastic (clear), awww what the heck.  I like the idea.

You know DD, as much as we travel to Oregon and Idaho to see family, I could more than likely hit those 2 states also if you don't find anyone else that wants to claim them. I ALWAYS play when I am in Oregon and played 3 different courses in Idaho last time we were there, so I think I could make that work. If no one else wants them, I mean.... :)

Would it not be difficult to ask everyone who has agreed to partake in this adventure to take on extra responsibility of traveling to near by states.

Well ,a trip to Georgia would be nice if it wasn't an 8 hr ride.I can ride up to Sarasota's North Water Tower however;>}. Our dgc has gone under the construction phase for that damn baseball field.We lost holes 1-6 & 18.Baskets 7 thru 17 are still playable.The plans for those "lost baskets" are in the works.We're supposed to have/get multiple tee pads,basket placement for future tourney use.That's still down the road however.

I'm planning on hitting our course here Tuesday,take picturesalso a shot of what once was part of our wooded area.They left basket 18 and 1 still in the ground.That might make an interesting picture.Then I'll hit Sarasota if it fits the plan.Yes/No ?

It would all depend on when it makes its way to me. I have a friend who lives in idaho just over the pass from jackson hole wy. If its still good weather I could probably talk my wife into going since its her best friend. If so I can play idaho and wyoming. If not there is a 9hole course in evanston wy that is a 1.5 hour drive and atleast knock wyoming out for you.
