The Brotherhood of the Traveling Disc.......

Greetings DGRUS World,

 

    Cassidy aka "Wicked Dyes" started something interesting.  He created "The DGRUS Great Disc Adventure".  With this concept he asks " A club to track the Great Disc Adventure.   If a disc labeled with The DGRUS Great Disc Adventure is found please take a photo and post it on here along with your name/ date/ and location found then leave it for another to find".

DO NOT RETURN

Take photo of you using the disc

Go to:

Now sign disc and leave for someone else to find and use!

 

Once you have sent out a disc for the first time please create a discussion with the Disc Name, Color, Stamp (distinguishing marks) as the tittle.

 

This is a great concept.  A way to track a lost disc.  But I would like to start something similiar yet different.  I am taking Cassidy's idea and taking it a step further.  I am stuck here in Florida.  And realistically, will be for a long time.  I would love to travel and experience many different places and Disc Golf Courses.  But since I can not, there is nothing that says that I can't sent a disc of mine all over the place.  What am I talking about ?

       I will need to find a friend in each state.  This DGRUS Friend has to befriend me, send me their address via private mail (I will not spam it, and I'll only send it to the person needing it) and promise to do the following.......

* Upon receiving the disc, take it to their local Course.

* Take a picture of themself holding the Disc in front of their Course Sign

* Play the course using the Disc when possible

* Upon returning home, go to this discussion, post the picture, and write a little story about it at their course

* Mail the Disc to the Next person on the list.

First off, welcome to the world of DiscGolfersRUs. This is a good source of information and socialization.
Next, if you would like to partake in the "Brotherhood of
the Traveling Disc" you must befriend me (I sent a request
to you already). This way we can communicate via private
mail. When we can do that, you'll send me your address.
I like to maintain privacy as much as I can. So sending me
your address via e-mail is best. Then when the disc
approaches your area, I'll e-mail you telling you that
you're next. I was missing someone from Kentucky. I had
someone play in kentucky but he lived in Ohio. So having
someone living in Kentucky is great.

My "newness" is already showing!  I do not know where your friend request is located.  I did, however, manage to send a request to you.  You may have already gotten it.  I think your idea is phenomenal and I'm glad you are giving me the opportunity to help out.  I travel all over KY for work and will try and get "Dad" to as many different courses as possible within 1 1/2 weeks.

Hey, I just realized that it has been a year since
the "Brotherhood of the Traveling Disc" was created.
I like to say "I really appreciate everyone that has
partaken in the Brotherhood, and for passing on the memory
of my father throughout the U.S."
Remember, after everything is all said and done, I plan to
use your stories and pictures to make a book.
We have covered many states, but there is still alot of
States that require representation. If you happen to know
of "Buddies" in states that have not been visited yet, ask
them if they could represent.

Do u have a list of unrepresented states? That would be helpful so that we know where we still need to get people from. Also, I didn't see Texas on the list. Has the disc already travelled to Texas?

I apologize Nick. No "Dad" has not reached Texas yet.
After it leaves it's present owner, it will travel
to Nevada, and then to Texas to you.
I apologize to everyone. It'll take me a day or two to
get a current or updated list up of states that need
representing. I should have it ready NLT Saturday.
After all it has been a little over a year since my
quest began.

There have been some players that wanted to represent a State but they never “befriended” me on Disc GolfersRUs.com and did not send me their address. So if you happen to see your State and you had asked to join, please contact me. If you happen to know any Disc Golfers in the following States, please ask them to participate in the “Brotherhood”.

The disc arrived at a very busy time for me, so I unfortunately only had time to play 1 round with it.  While on a road trip for work I stopped at Arthur Park in Rock Springs, Wyoming.  I played a single disc round with "dad" on the short course.  We went on a birdie streak of 5 in a row, (hitting the basket on 1 of them). But then we missed the mando on 7 and took a double bogey. Finishing with two pars. Not a bad round for me.

 

"Dad" is next heading to Las Vegas to visit Ron.
