The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Greetings DGRUS World,

Cassidy aka "Wicked Dyes" started something interesting.  He created "The DGRUS Great Disc Adventure".  With this concept he asks " A club to track the Great Disc Adventure.   If a disc labeled with The DGRUS Great Disc Adventure is found please take a photo and post it on here along with your name/ date/ and location found then leave it for another to find".

Also he asks

How to prepare a disc for its adventure!

On the underside of the disc put:

The DGRUS Great Disc Adventure

DO NOT RETURN

Take photo of you using the disc

Go to:

http://discgolfer.ning.com/group/the-dgrus-great-disc-adventure

upload photo and leave name, date, and location

Now sign disc and leave for someone else to find and use!

Once you have sent out a disc for the first time please create a discussion with the Disc Name, Color, Stamp (distinguishing marks) as the tittle.

This is a great concept.  A way to track a lost disc.  But I would like to start something similiar yet different.  I am taking Cassidy's idea and taking it a step further.  I am stuck here in Florida.  And realistically, will be for a long time.  I would love to travel and experience many different places and Disc Golf Courses.  But since I can not, there is nothing that says that I can't sent a disc of mine all over the place.  What am I talking about ?

* Upon receiving the disc, take it to their local Course.

* Take a picture of themself holding the Disc in front of their Course Sign

* Play the course using the Disc when possible

* Upon returning home, go to this discussion, post the picture, and write a little story about it at their course

* Mail the Disc to the Next person on the list.

So far, I would like the following people (Currently on my Friend's list) to participate :

If they all accept, all I'll need is 42 more friends.  If they do not accept, I'll need someone to step up and take over representing that state.

Would you be willing to be part of the "Brotherhood" ?

I can not make this happen unless I have enough friends to cover every state.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I appreciate all the extra work that everyone that is interested in helping with the "Travels"

But everyone has to understand, It's your story to write.

If I were to tell everyone what to do and where to go, then it would be my story.

I just want each state of the US to be represented.

I go to member search on this web page, put in a state and try to find a player who is active.

I have been sending messages under people's comment section and no one responded.

I'll get Alaska for you, if you can get it to me within the next two months.  I'm driving back to the lower 48 middle of October, but will gladly participate before I leave.

Cheers,

Chris

I will be in Alabama the weekend of/right before holloween, and will be in Louisiana 1st or 2nd week of Nov. If need be, I could rep LA,AL, and MS as long as disc is sent in time. But if anybody else wants to rep AL or LA there would be no time line on the disc being sent to me.
Can not promise any time frames.  It takes time to mail, and for people to find time to partake when they receive.

So far this is what I got.

Washington                                         Jeff Nichols

California                                            Dookville

California                                            Donny Olow

Michigan                                             Wicked Dyes

Florida                                                Mr Ed

Mississippi                                          Eric Day

Tennessee, Georgia                             Goob

Virgina                                                Fred Vegas

Indiana                                               Jeffery Nugent

Hawaii                                                David K. Reisner

Pennsylvania                                       Pete Maher

Utah, Wyoming                                  JP Pulley

Illinois                                               LEE CASTRO

Washington, Oregon, Idaho               Jeff Nichols

Ohio                                                  CincyChainS

Wisconsin                                          ROBEY the one.

Please check the list for accurcy.

There have been some people to stated that they hit other states if I can get the disc to them by a certain time frame.  I can not promise time frames for the Disc.  It takes time to mail and it takes time for play to find the time to go out and play.  I wish that I could say it will take one week per person to recieve, play ana mail, thus the event will be 4 to 5 months.  But I can't.

Just let it play out, it's gonna take a while. Good stories always take time to develop. I can't wait to get the disc either, but waiting will just make it all the cooler the day that it arrives. Gonna have a good time with it.
This is like the "Flat Stanley" of disc golf..  If you did'nt have Michigan covered like a glove I would toss my name in the hat.  Sadly thou you do.  However I might be able to drum up some players in the Montana / Co. area's if interested.

I would greatly appreciate that.

I have been trying to find people by writing to them under their comment sections,

But there is not a great interest.

Everyone,

Could you all use your contact or friends list to find other players from states not list yet ?  I would greatly appreciate your extra work.

Gabriel,

What is "Flat Stanley" ?  If you would like to partake, even though a state is represented, one could always look up the contact for that state and ask to play a round of Disc Golf with them when they go out to play.  Getting Golf Buddies is not a bad thing.  In fact I have a couple of people in two states that will hook up when the disc arrives.  Then you can write your own story about your travels and experiences.

Victor

Gabe and I know each other really well.  Lol!  I would love to get a round in with my brother in law!

Double D,

Flat Stanley is a character from a childrens book that 3rd graders around the country read about. The project is that the kids cutout their own Flat Stanley and send him off in the mail with a note pad to a friend or relative somewhere in the world. The recipient takes a pic with Flat Stanley and a few notes on his adventure while with them and then mails it on to the next person. When the students get them back at the end of the school year they spend a day sharing where their Stanley went on his adventures.

Sounds familiar doesn't it.

OK Now I remember.  I never got to partake with Flat Stanley.

But it is familiar. LoL.

If can work for little kids, it should work for me or should I say US.

I was thinking something completely different when you said flat stanley. Thought it might be like a dirty sanchez or something. I guess I need to get my head out of the gutter.
