The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf
Greetings DGRUS World,
Cassidy aka "Wicked Dyes" started something interesting. He created "The DGRUS Great Disc Adventure". With this concept he asks " A club to track the Great Disc Adventure. If a disc labeled with The DGRUS Great Disc Adventure is found please take a photo and post it on here along with your name/ date/ and location found then leave it for another to find".
Also he asks
How to prepare a disc for its adventure!
On the underside of the disc put:
The DGRUS Great Disc Adventure
DO NOT RETURN
Take photo of you using the disc
Go to:
http://discgolfer.ning.com/group/the-dgrus-great-disc-adventure
upload photo and leave name, date, and location
Now sign disc and leave for someone else to find and use!
Once you have sent out a disc for the first time please create a discussion with the Disc Name, Color, Stamp (distinguishing marks) as the tittle.
This is a great concept. A way to track a lost disc. But I would like to start something similiar yet different. I am taking Cassidy's idea and taking it a step further. I am stuck here in Florida. And realistically, will be for a long time. I would love to travel and experience many different places and Disc Golf Courses. But since I can not, there is nothing that says that I can't sent a disc of mine all over the place. What am I talking about ?
"The Brotherhood of the Traveling Disc"
There are fifty states in the United States. For those who do not know here is a list...............
I will need to find a friend in each state. This DGRUS Friend has to befriend me, send me their address via private mail (I will not spam it, and I'll only send it to the person needing it) and promise to do the following.......
* Upon receiving the disc, take it to their local Course.
* Take a picture of themself holding the Disc in front of their Course Sign
* Play the course using the Disc when possible
* Upon returning home, go to this discussion, post the picture, and write a little story about it at their course
* Mail the Disc to the Next person on the list.
So far, I would like the following people (Currently on my Friend's list) to participate :
Ed Horst..................... Mr Ed Florida
Cassidy......................Wicked Dyes Michigan
Mark Ellis....................Mark Ellis Michigan
Shawn West.................Dookville California
Donny Olow..................Donny Olow Morley Field California. First place I ever played
David Reisner............... Kirk Hawaii
Steve West..................Steve West Minnesota
Tim...........................Tim York New Mexico
Monte........................ Moe Dee New Jersey
Brett..................... Brett@sickdisc.com Wisconsin
If they all accept, all I'll need is 42 more friends. If they do not accept, I'll need someone to step up and take over representing that state.
Would you be willing to be part of the "Brotherhood" ?
I can not make this happen unless I have enough friends to cover every state.

I am writing to inform you all that "Dad" has traveled to West Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia. He has spent time with two Brothers thus far. Kevin aka Goob, will be mailing Dad to Tino "Silverback" Medina in which North Carolina will be represented. I can't wait to see the pics and read the stories.
Will keep everyone updated,
Victor
aka
Daddy Dragon
Tino "SilverBack" Medina wrote to me and informed me that "Dad" has made it safely to North Carolina.
The quest continues............
Permalink Reply by Nick on September 18, 2011 at 9:34am Everyone loves to play.
But to be creative.............
As long as players post their pictures and their story, things will be fine.
I am not an English Major, so I will not be grading your works.
But I do plan on making a short book if possible using everyone's short stories.
I will more then likely have to change the title, due to the Movie the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants",
but I will cross that road when I come to it.
Yes, I will be giving everyone who partakes in the Brotherhood credit for their participation.
Permalink Reply by mr ed on September 19, 2011 at 10:47pm Some people may be wondering "What should I do for my story?"
Well there is no set guidelines. I am no an English Teacher.
But I would like for people to put their name and informational data
so that others who read may know more about the "Brotherhood".
Then put down information about the course or courses.
Give a history, tell of problems or challenges about your course
so that others who read may know more about the various courses for Disc Golf.
One may include which holes they used the Disc on, how it flew, How you felt while taking axtra time to fullfill a "Brotherhood" quest, how it sat next to them while they drank a brew. So that others who read may know more about the life of Disc Golfers.
Besides sending Dad around the United States..........
The Disc will be used to tell a story of how Different Disc Golfers, from different areas, from Different walks of life, from Different Beliefs and backgrounds have join in a common goal of a slowily but steadily rising sport called Disc Golf. And I want people to say "You know what, I had a part in that" or "I was part of something".
Ladies and Gentlemen (Brotherhood),
The Brotherhood of the traveling Disc has been successful so far. It is on it's forth state. Looking back at the past postings, there have been some people / players that said they would help in the quest. But some did not befriend me so that we may communicate when needed, and some did not give me their address so that the Disc may be sent when it is time. Chuck Nichols from Or, will your son partake it the Disc's travels to you and from you to the next player?
I need Fred Vegas from Virginia to contact me. You Are Next On The Trip. Pete Maher from Penn, you will be after Fred. CincyChainS from Ohio, you will be after that. Then the Disc will travel to Michigan to meet it's creator.
Oh, I have to make a correction. I had placed Eric Day for Mississippi. I was wrong. He will represent Missouri. So that means I am still looking for someone from Mississippi and more. When I get home, I'll post which states are still needed to be represented for the Brotherhood.

The disc is traveling up the East Coast of the US. I am going East to West. The last stop will be Hawaii. So you might be waiting a little while.
