The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

So, my brother is coming out to New Mexico to visit, and I can assure you that we will be on the disc golf course not five minutes after he pulls in to my driveway.

Here are my questions:

1.  How many of you have family members that love to play?

2.  Who else uses disc golf to even the score with an older sibling?

My brother beat up on me pretty regularly when we were kids, but you'd better believe that I can       embarrass him on the DG course.

HEY THIS IS A FAMILY SITE!

Oh, wait, you said "Hucks Together".... nevermind
my brother in-law and sister in-law are the only ones in my family that play. Took my brother and wife out once and they didn't much care for it. To each their own.
I have a huge extended family, and there are about a dozen of us--aunts, uncles, cousins--that play disc golf regularly. They are pretty much all 'casual' players. A couple of my uncles still give me a run for my money, and/so I've been encouraging them to get out and play in leagues/tournaments. I agree it's pretty awesome to have disc golf at the center of our family and events. You should have seen our Christmas last year...
My wife plays...and if she had more time she could school any female in our area...my 5 year old plays now and again but will be playing more regular after he turns 6 in January--and my soon to be 3 year old daughter? Her ultralights are waiting for her in the closet...

I taught 10 of my nephews to play the game and they love it and play often...but my older siblings (8 of them) tend to scoff at disc golf--but thats ok--I take them to task playing real golf on a regular basis to even the score...
im runnin solo, no one else in my family plays and my son is only two, but he actually plays with me in our yard. other than that, no one else plays.
Both my boys play. Youngest is actually better than me(despite only playing once or twice a month). I still beat my older boy but once he gets consistent he might be the best of the three of us. The game is definitely more special now that we're all playing.
I have family that plays but my younger brother will never beat me.
Is your Young brother older than you, or is he your younger Young brother. ;-)
Our family plays together all the time! My other half Rick, Me, and my daughter Penny who is 7. It all started with his niece's husband. He got all Rick's brothers huckin' and then Rick and the rest of us. Even took my family out on the DGC and now they're into it. Also, set up a wheelbarrow as a basket at my friend's son's 2nd. b-day party last weekend......left some old discs behind, and now they're into it! It's an awesome sport and most of the courses are out in a nature, so that works for the kiddos too, as well as me! :)
The older sibling rivalry:
Ah, yes......Rick's brothers have always been better than him, both older and younger. He started the sport later, and now that he's doing it more, he has gotten way better, perhaps more than them! The funniest thing happened when we were visiting his older bro. up in OH. Is was Rick's first ever time playing on an OH course. And.....he got an ace on a basket where you couldn't even see it! Only his second one too! He thought is was so awesome that he did it in front of his older bro.! Like, "Ha, take that!" I think he felt a sense of accomplishment that only a younger bro. could have.
So, best of luck to you and let us know how it goes! :)
And def. agree on the title of this, "A Family the Hucks Together...Stays Together"! :)
Getting my brother and my dad involved was the best thing I ever did. Disc golf dominates our family vacations. The women hate it, but it brings us closer together.
Wow, great response Laura! Outside of warping my son's fragile little mind, I truly only have my dad and my brother who play with me. Every once in a blue moon does my wife come out for some disc golf, but I will take it however I can get it. Sounds like you guys have a great time playing together. I wish you many joyous outings and many more aces.
Oh i get it my last name is young. Thats pretty clever.
