The FLX ESP plastic...

I have just purchased a FLX ESP surge SS. This is the first for me as far as the FLX goes. How is this plastic?. It seems really flexible but how about when in the heat? Does the heat ,say 90 and above, make this plastic unthrowable? I do like the grippability(if thats a word)of the plastic though. I hope to give it a test run tonight or definitely tomarrow.

I love the FLX in the cold but don't like it above 45 degrees, I prefer firmer plastics in general

Lotto has the numbers accurate to Discraft's ratings...but Discraft must have been smoking something from Innova when they gave the Surge SS a 1.6. Its much more like a .5. I have an FLX one too and it goes a long way if you don't turn it over too much. FLX in general is the bomb! Some people down south complain about it in the heat, but I played last summer in MI where it would get 90 some days, and I still thought it was money plastic. I like to grip drivers as hard as I can and FLX plastic feels right when you grip the hell out of it. As for midrange and putters I like it a lot too. Very durable and feels great. Best two plastics are ESP and FLX IMO.

I just don't care much for the flex or esp plastic. It bends when I grip it and and feels heavier than other plastic. I definately perfer the stiffness of Z and D plastic

I really like the FLX blend. It is a little more stable than their other plastics so it can give you some more options when you are finding what works for you. It definately is a little more grippy in the cold and wet weather, and I like throwing rollers with it because once they contact the ground they really hook up and are less affected by little sticks or gravel and they don't get all ate up. Also, if you play very wooded courses they will take all the abuse you can give them and maintain their stability. I definately prefer a Surge in FLX opposed to the regular ESP or Z. All of the discs I use are Z and FLX, I used ESP in my Forces' but I plan on converting them to Z now that I have the option. FLX Buzzz, Drone, Surge, Challenger are all money discs to me, I'm hoping to try a FLX Predator soon.

As far as being unthrowable in the heat, I doubt it. I have used it in up to 100*F and they still worked great. They do get softer, but if you have a smooth throw you won't notice it. People use Blowflys and Arrows in the heat and they are more floppy than the FLX material. I think it is more of the Innova syndrome (Innovaitis) down south that procures those opinions.

I have 2 Surge SS's and one Z-Plastic in my bag. I have two Surge SS's retiered to my Ace Wall. I scored both of those in April when it was hot. In a pinch, the SS has about 40 to 50 foot farther glides than the Z. The Z is good for 320 to 350 foot shots.

Personally, I like the flex plastic in ALL weather conditions. I have a Drone I live by and a surge and SS avenger in the bag as well. I live in Oklahoma so not only is it scorching hot and humid in the summers, but it gets into the single digits sometimes in the winter. In rain nothing I have is more grippy. I prefer this plastic because of the way it kicks off stuff while giving at the same time. I dont think I have even one nick on all 3 of my discs. and I hit alot of trees out at Blackhawk (WORLD CLASS). thats my 2 cents.

FLX plastic rocks for sure hope they make the zone FLX. FLX anything is great but the surge is more stable for sure
