The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I now have three Nukes and I love them. I can bomb them 390 and they are incredible. I play with a group of guys who can also launch discs around or over 400 feet. I am the guy on the course who has mostly Discraft discs although I have a mixed bag. I live in Atlanta, GA (Innova Country) and have tried to get a few guys to throw the Nuke and have let them throw it. The results are amazing, they cannot throw it flat!!!??? Has anyone else experienced this?? They can bomb a Boss or Katana or Groove, put a Nuke in their hand and they almost shank it. Soooooo weird!!!

I suffer from this issue. I can't seem to keep the nose down with My nuke. So I have been using it as a second drive in hopes to beat it into stability
I have big hands and long fingers and maybe I can just control it better then most. I can throw it flat, hyzer or anny with good results. I throw with the three finger power grip. I also throw Boss and Katana. I want a HALO!
They probably don't know what to expect or how to handle it properly because they are so used to a Boss or Katana, plus the differences in plastic affect grip. If they are expecting it to be madly over stable and take a lot of torque then of course they are going to shank it.
It took me several rounds and some tree strikes till it was broken in. Once that happend I started to like it. I must say it is at the outer edge of my ability, so I have to hit it just right or it will just hyzer out for me. I have had better luck since I switched to a 164g. Tough call, but since the Halo fits in my hand better. I'd go with that disc, but I'm still working on both. So my opinion is based on comfort at this time.

P.S. Up until now. I have never found a Discraft driver I liked. Innova drivers just seemed to work better for me. Don't seem to know why, but I can say. I've tried just about every Discraft driver and this may be the first to make it in my bag. Time will tell.
IMO there is not much difference in the Boss and the Nuke. They should be able to throw it fine, but they all struggle.
Well in the end it all comes down to preference, and what works for you. Just like Rescue, maybe Discraft just isn't their kind of driver. Who knows?
Try a tourney stamped ESP Force, AMAZING disc!
here's my nuke

I have only thrown mine a few times but I can see why they almost/do shank it. Its the big rim, I think it scares guys. Even the guys that are used to them. I throw mostly innova drivers (destroyers, boss, x-cal) and I almost shanked it my first toss with it.
Mine turns over bad. I traded it for a Champion Destroyer.
I'm having the same problem.. I've only thrown mine a few times tho I thought it was just me. I have mostly discraft but a friend of mine bought a boss xg and got an ace the first day out with the new xg. 290ft. I'm impressed with that boss XG and I think one might find it's way in my bag.
bah... curl your wrist a little bit and pull it on through. I parked #21 from the shorts at kensington here in mi... (400' hole, mean one .. big annie shot) first real drive with one. this coming from a dedicated innova guy in the heart of discraft country. nice driver for annie shots, yep.
