The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Thanks to David Ledford for originally posting this, to most of you it's common knowledge, but as a beginner this has helped me TREMENDOUSLY.  Every beginner should read this comprehensively.  Study it.  One month ago I was driving a 200' ft avg.  One day of field practice with this information and I am passing that with my Roc and Buzzz, hitting 275' with my Nuke SS and hitting 250' consistently.  I'm going to keep up open field practice and work on my footwork (currently using the 1-step) until I can't feel my arm.  I have a DGA Mach II in my backyard for putt practice (have had some epic games of horse there) and am going to keep grinding.  Even when winter comes, I'll be playing.  Scandinavians don't get cold.

Congrats on your distance gain.

I'm going to sound like a jerk here but at 250' you shouldn't be throwing anything faster than about a speed 7 disc.  These include Teebirds, Rivers, XLs, Leopards and the like.

I get more distance out of a Flow, Nuke SS, Valkyrie and Beast than I do with my River.  I still love the River, but sometimes I throw my flat-top Roc farther.  I'm thinking about getting a TL but I'm seriously considering dropping all Innova except my Roc, Valk, Wraith, Beast and Rhyno.  Discraft and Lat 64's plastic is so much better and IMO, they simply make better discs.  No one can match Innova's selection, though, and you could argue against me using one point:  the Roc.
I'm glad the article was helpful to you. I know it changed my game. I still refer back to it from time to time.

Dave is correct in every way. Great article.

If you watch Climo he is always on balance at release.Very few players do that. They are usually falling back or to one side or the other. It take disipline and smoothness to finish on balance.
