alright guy i have you answers. i grew up playing baseball so guess what i throw all over the course, i have people all time time asking me what i throw and how i throw it.if you want distances yes a flick is great, the 150 class is better, the light weight allows extra snap and does not put as much strain on your arm, elbow, and shoulder. I use the esp 150 class flick, it runs about 15 bucks, well worth it because it holds up well and think how many trees, hard hits into the ground is it going to take. I try to get he flattest disc i can. a heavy weight is good for head wind. with the thumber and tommahawks practice because i can throw skip shoots with them to get around turns and bends. throw them low under a branch and get them to rise up for distance, high to carry over something such as trees or just save shoots over water.
grab the tommy as you would a side arm throw. then just throw it over hand. them thumber put your thumb on the inner lip, note not in the crest of it but on the corner edge of it so it releases easy. use your pointer and middle finger to hold it straight. i am in the progress of making a video just need people to help me tape it.

I've used a lot of different discs for a thumber/tommy. Champ Teebird, Z-Surge, Z-Flick (max and 150), Z and FLX Avenger, Champ Firebird, Star Max, Star Xcal and a few others. My favorites and ones for max distance were the Avenger and 150 Flick...the max and xcal were up there as well.
