Permalink Reply by Christian Lamb on October 17, 2011 at 8:12pm stamina I think is good... I can usually play 2 rounds for practice before I'm spent. (Florida sun really takes it out of you)
Sleep has been ok - 7 hrs
In between rounds I am going to start bringing a lunch so I don't have to hurry to a restaurant and hurry back. This way I can get some more practice in like "Wicked Dyes" says he/she does before starting the 2nd round and hopefully the r and r time will do me good .
I usually go for it on most holes, but lately I've been playing a bit safer on holes I know are too difficult to reach and have some tight OB areas. Much better to play for a 3 then have a slip up and finish w/ a 5.

Permalink Reply by Dookville on October 17, 2011 at 4:55pm Know that it will go away for the most part over time. You will either learn to pace yourself, or you will become more relaxed playing in tourney's and not get so mentally or physically blasted.
I am 44 years old and play with the young dudes in Am1. Wherever we start on the course I will say something like, "I'm glad we are starting on this hole, you can make your birdie runs for about 7 holes from here". Next thing you know, dudes are playing their asses off trying to birdie every hole. They are whipped 10 holes in on a 36 hole tourney. I know I'm a dirty bastard for doing that, but they will learn to not listen to people and play within themselves real quick.
I still play for pars and take the birdies as they come. After playing many touneys, the birdie ops come more frequently and I'm less tired than if I was trying to chase them for two rounds.
Same here on playing better the second round, I tend to play to safe first round and cost my self to many strokes. Second round I have nothing to lose and just go for it. I've squeezed into so many last place cash's doing this, I wish I could throw down an awesome first round some day lol
