We are getting close to the end of our league season at our local course and we still have a sizable ace pool. I'm hoping that it will get hit in the next six weeks but if it doesn't we generally hold onto the money until the next year.

One year the guy running the league took the money to a separate league. Those two pools and leagues are not linked together in any way so that was nothing short of stealing in my book. Someone in that league hit a big pool that was half money from our league. That is very wrong. Now this year the guy is suggesting the same thing and I will have none of it.

Does anybody else do something different with ace pool money? How about one huge party? Last year there was no money to hold till the next year because it got hit at the very end of the season. But this year could be different. We might have to set everything to short if nobody hits it soon. There will definitely be no stealing of the money this year.

Do a CTP for the money the last night of league.
agreed...........
18 hole playoff
No. That only supports the stronger players. I would never have a chance to win. The Ace Pool is in many ways an equalizer. There is a lot of luck in getting an ace.

How many times have Aces blown threw the chains. How many times have hit the center pole and kicked out. An ace in my book is a great throw and a lot of luck
Setting everything to short sounds like a good idea. We do this and if it is not hit the money roles over top next year. Its always nice to start the year with a nice ace pot. The party does not sound like a good idea for me. I put my money into the ace pot for one reason an ace. Moving it to another league does sound like stealing.
if you are to do a ctp i would give each club member the amount of opportunities to get one close equal to the amount of times they came to league (and paid in their ace money). at our league we did once mark all the short tees and gave everyone an opportunity to win HALF of the current ace pool. half because the shorts are that much easier. i would even go to the extent of marking out "ace race" tees and letting everyone play a round of ace race for a shot at the money. in the event of an "ace race" i would spend some of the money.. depending on the size of the ace pot and a consensus vote.. and buy a box of discs and everyone would get a new disc and that would be what the ace race would be played with... hopefully after that someone would get an ace and it would be all great fun and all the players would see return for their weeks at league and their dollars gone to good use.
In my league, I like to do a last week extravaganza of sorts. I'll split the ACE POOL money up into a bunch of equally valuable envelopes and have a bunch of CTPs on the last night. We also have a party, but that is funded by all of the 50/50s that I offer during the duration of the league. When the ACE POOL has been big enough ($300+), I have also split the money up amongst the divisions as well. Every division will have 1 or 2 of their own CTPs to shoot at. This really keeps everyone happy. I like repeat customers, so making everyone feel like they got a fair shake is extremely important.
Great idea! I like this one
CTP for me to win on the last night of league.

I love CTPs as I am really good at winning them if they are under 150 feet.
I posted this topic because there are obviously some people here that believe the money should be kept "in play" over the winter even if that would mean stealing that money to another league. It is simply wrong and I have a hard time with normally honest people who would even consider this. We do not get money from their league when we ace at our course so why should it be any different at their course. This is greed at its ugliest. I didn't even think that this was an issue as I thought that it had already been decided. The last two years the money has been rolled over. But greed pops its ugly head up and all of a sudden this issue comes back up.

The idea of a bunch of CTPs is a good idea. We could even do it with half of the money. Just to let you know our pool is getting up close to $500 and that is why the greedy little bastards are popping their heads up. I am really just hoping that somebody takes it soon. Another idea would be to pad the first place and second place cash with some extra money for the last month of league. Maybe cap the pool at $500 and everything over that each week goes to payouts.

The party idea was really just some sarcasm although we could buy a lot of beer for that much money.
Here at MorleyField Disc Golf course in San Diego , we cap the Ace Pool for EACH event at $ 300.00. If no one gets it , it rolls over to the next / same event.

A Separate Ace pool is set up for Hole # 15 for the general public. 2 shots for a Quarter.

Each Event has it's own Ace Pool and money from each Ace pool STAYS with that specific event !!
Use the short tees...or set some up
