While FDM was a good idea and a good mag when it actually was mailed out but i think poor management and lack of communcation will be its downfall. I was super excited about the mag when i first got it but with lack of consistancy i have started to give up hope. I have paid for 6 issues in one year and seen 4. This is why i did not order the dvd because i felt that they would not come throught and it would be money lost on a company that is looking as thought it will fail. Thanks for the effort but the results hve failed.
same here, with the last issue coming in december and the first inside page had an add for halloween discs, thats crazy. I love them when I get them but something needs to be done about the issues they are having.
I've only recieved 1 issue... I refuse to Renew a subscription to a 'zine that I do not recieve.. I'd rather log into this site and have instant acess as well as people to talk to.
It was too all over the place for me. I play disc golf, and there are reasons for that. I follow the Satchel Paige advice to avoid running at all times, so Ultimate was never my thing. If I teach my dog to catch Frisbees she will start chasing my missed putts in the back yard and suddenly I'll be known as "the dude who uses the putter with all the teethmarks." No thanks. I've played guts and DDC. They are OK. I wouldn't drive four hours to play in a DDC tournament. I do drive four hours to play disc golf. I'm a disc golfer. When I pick up a PDGA magazine, I expect it to be about disc golf. FDM was not enough about disc golf IMO. I know the coverage of other disc sports is exactly what a lot of people liked about it, but come on...the publication was being supported by PDGA $$$ and disc golf needed to be more of the focus of the coverage. The article about World's in the last issue was WEAK!

So, even if it had been on time and delivered 6 issues, I wasn't happy with the content. I'm not sure why the PDGA would want to use its $ to support a magazine that seemed like it was trying to get me interested in spending more time flipping a lid and less time playing disc golf.
Couldnt have said it better myself Scott.

hahahahaha.
I agree with everything I have heard so far. I only recieved one issue this year and I was not impressed with the content.
Does anyone know why the old DIsc Golf World News was thrown aside in favor of the new mag??
Maybe we should give the new guys the benefit of the doubt and hope they improve for next year. Someone should start a group "Ways to improve FDM".
Rick Rothstein decided to stop doing DGWN at the end of 2007 and would not bid for 2008. The PDGA had to put out bids and two people bid: FDM and I believe the free Disc Golf Magazine newspaper. The Board liked FDM's plan better. Now, the PDGA will be doing their own mag in 2009 focused mainly on disc golf. Rick is on the Board and will help get the new magazine launched. But I don't think he plans to be part of the day-to-day operation. Someone else would likely be the editor. But plans are still unsettled so we'll just have to see what emerges. I think they plan to have at least four PDGA magazines in 2009.

Thanks, Chuck.
BTW, I don't have any idea if FDM may continue on their own after this year. I guess that will be up to them to say on their website at some point.
Contact Brian Graham at PDGA HQ following the holidays. I know they'll be looking for help. In fact he's already posted about it.
