What to do with a lost disc, that you cant return?

I have a stack of discs in my closet that don't belong to me. I'll find a disc with a name but no number or email. If I don't know the person I ask everyone I see at the course I found it at, and continue to do so for weeks. Sometimes it just happens that nobody knows the owner of this disc. What is the proper etiquette in that situation? They are all just collecting dust. I've considered donating them when I hear of school programs starting up or youth groups who need discs.

Every once in a while you come across a treasure. a couple weeks ago I found a brand new Star Roadrunner. I posted it online and asked everyone at league, but no one replied so I traded it to a friend for something I (do) throw.
I think you should try and return it, and if you can't, get something out of it in trade. I have a box full of 60+/- DX discs with no name/number - these are the ones that I donate to first timers

I usually give them away to new players too..or if they're in decent shape...put them up for CTP's. I got a couple like that right now I've been holding on to.

Well known around here as "Easter eggs"
New disc, barely thrown, strange name, is a gift from the disc gods and they want you to throw it with no worries.
If it gets lost enough times, it will get back to the original owner!
Some of my discs get returned from a course I did not even use it on...

Clean them up, practice some Dyes on them, Once you are done experimenting with them, donate them to new players.

It sounds like you've done your due diligence in trying to return them, if they're discs that you like keep them, if they're discs you don't use give them away. Donating them to a school or church group is a great idea.

Donations to new players is great. If you have a "play it again sports" store, they usually give a couple of bucks a piece and throw them in the five dollar bin. I would also check out discaroo.com it is a great place for trading.

Do whatever you want with them! Giving them away to new players is cool and very gratifying. You can sell them, or do what I do and trade them on Discaroo for backups of your normal throwing stock. It doesn't make much sense to give discs away and then go buy the discs that you actually need.

After reading the replies, I second giving out unreturnable discs to newbies like myself! I'm just starting out (I'm hooked already), have very limited/no funds, and I hate the cheapies that I do have, lol. Would it be in terrible taste if I even asked around for discs that people have found or don't want?

donate them as DFL prizes at local tourneys. help out those new strugglin players by giving them some new options in their bags.
