What's on your feet when you throw?

I had an exciting thought the other day when was talking to my brother-in-law, who is a designer for Merrell (a division of Wolverine that specializes in hiking apparel). I told him how cool it would be if Merrell made disc golf shoes, since myself and a slue of other disc golfers I know use Merrell (or other similar brands) as their preferred disc golf foot attire. Since I cannot think of a single disc golf shoe in existence, I told him Merrell could have a strong chance of cornering that market niche. Since Merrell is a quality brand and based out of Rockford, MI, I would defiantly welcome a disc golf shoe and use it religiously. We continued our discussion with shoe tread ideas and other suggestions. He said he talk about with Merrell's VP, but I want to know my fellow disc golfers' thoughts...

Here is what i currently use. I think it's the chameleon 2, made by Merrell though. I know the picture kind of silly, but It's the best example I could muster up in a short time.

I was wearing this very same shoe, and loving it. However I wore the toe out this season. I would love this same shoe with a reinforced toe!

I currently just use tennis shoes because I have been in search of the best disc golf shoe. Here is my problem though:

I wear a Size: 15 Wide!!!!!

Please pass this along as there are some of us that have large feet and can never find boots, let alone shoes to fit right and be comfortable.

Bite footwear made a line of disc golf shoes. I don't know how they turned out as I never bought any, but surely, you could find some feedback on-line somewhere.

I know exactly which shoe you are talking about. My buddy has a pair and he rarely uses them. They quite bulky, more like an over glorified hiking boot. I know I like to have something lite on my foot so I'm not slowing down the foot work.

Sounds good to me! I'm a shoe nut, so I would give it a try. However unless they stopped making them. There is a company that does make a disc golf shoe. Never tried it though, since I like the trail runner type of shoes and it was more of a light hiking boot.

I think we are talking about this shoe. I haven't heard any positive feed back about them, only complaints. I defiantly think a better design can be executed.

There was a company called Turntech that marketed a shoe for disc golf. I think it was actually a softball/baseball shoe. Under the toes, it had a circular cleat design that made sense for golfers that plant and twist when they throw. Id like to see this on a hiker from Merrell, great shoes.

I LOVE MERRELL. I've used Merrell hiking boots for as long as I can remember for my backpacking weekends, and I love my Merrell slip on clogs. In fact if they made shoes for all of the activities I would likely use only Merrell shoes. I think the Five Finger shoes would be a nice Disc Golfing shoe, but Merrell can out do that.

Some nice light full sole disc golfing sandal much like the Keen and Teva full toe sandals, and a nice lightweight trail runner type shoe with more sole sensitivity, and a pair of light hikers for disc golf. People have different preferences on footwear, I love full toe sandals like my Teva Narmadas, and on cool days I really like my Merrell Clogs. I can't see myself throwing well with a light hiker. Just too much grip I think.

I like my Nike Trail Runners. Light weight and you can play all day. Cost , about $ 50.00
