not colder than that. but have played in -10 here in wisconsin, prob -17 with wind chill.
The coldest I can remember is -6.
Not that cold. One day years ago me and 3 others took a shovel and broom to an open course, few tress but elevation changes. We had blue skies and 20 degree weather with 12 inches of snow on the ground and no wind. 1st round we shoveled and swept all the tees. By the 2nd round they were dry. Only ones there were us and 2 snowmobiles.
I did lose a disc in a snow drift the first round that we found during the second round. Also got a bit sunburned on my face.
The day before an Ice Bowl in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the radio weather report said it was 20 below zero and the wind chill was 50 below. The wind was screaming and downright painful. Nobody walked face first into the wind. My doubles partner, Rick Rothstein, (yes he really does, or at least did, play the game occasionally) and I went out to play a practice round. We were dressed in as many layers as we could and still move, well...waddle. After a couple hours we retreated to the bar. We only had a few holes left to complete the round. It didn't matter. My hands were so cold I was worried I was at the frostbite level.
Trying to confirm for you Thad, it was somewhere between -27 & -32 here in Kenai during that snap. I threw two holes and was afraid for every disc I threw, including my putter. So I went home. Brutal, brutal cold. My black labs looked grey within a few minutes from their fur frosting.
how can you get colder than alaska? what did you use for antifreeze, jeesh, Yeah it's nice having the course to yourself,. no fair weather golfers , humidity, poison ivy , mosquitos, etc
Probably10 degrees F with a windchill around 0. Grew to love disc during the last winter, so I'm looking forward to this one.
