What's your worst Players Package ever?

I like playing for money. There is nothing like making that important putt for a little tournament cash. But when your playing as an Amateur in a PDGA tourney, your will never see that cash again! Having a player rating is cool, but non-sanctioned events are way more fun because of 100% division pay-outs.

Plus, the last tournament I played in, the entry fee was high, the players package was a sticker and a $11.00 mid-range I'll never throw, and when I got "paid" for placing in the money, my prize was a high priced plastic wham-o you'll find at any generic toy section in America. I mean come on, at least give away a wham-o product disc golfers would like; for example the plastic mini-basket set, not some worthless and meaningless prize.

Long story short, Now I can not afford to play an Ice Bowl tourney with a cash prize and donate to a brand new course and club because I choose to participate in a PDGA, watch your money go bye-bye, event. Any body want to buy a Mid-Range DGA After Shock and a mini?

if you don't like the players pack or potential payout discs inquire with the TD about trophy only! great option to keep costs down and only pick out plastic ya really want....

This may sound like a corny idea, but you could gather 12-13 awesome photos of the course, sell some ad space to your sponsors, and get costco to make you some calendars, mugs, tee-shirts or something. Give 'em as raffles, ctp's, worst score of the day, most penalties, ect. Or maybe even a framed photo would work well as a trophy.
As for money, try a flatter pay-out, like just over half the field, & give 2nd an 3rd place more and 1st less.

Damn Right Donny! But Polo's and Towels you can never have to many of. Cheap discs are kind of a waste of resources (think about all the PDGA stratus's in a landfill somewhere, unthrown).

How about different players packs you could choose from.It woul'dent even have to be all disc golf stuff either.A cd players pak,a ball golfers players pak,coupons to discgolfcenter.com to pick out your own stuff,etc...

At the Augusta Classic, we got $15 for the pro shop. I thought that was an excellent idea. It allowed everyone to pick something they wanted.


I used to play a lot of ball golf tournaments. Somewhere along the line, I received a scorecard/yardage book holder. It works very well for disc golf scorecards as well. They fit very easily into your back pocket and have a small loop for a small pencil. You can find these holders at golf supply stores (sites).

We have a club that puts on events that has done players packs in the past where you get to pick your discs out of their for sale bins, nice selection. They also do the payouts with funny money so you can buy their jackets, towels, shirts, discs...etc. So much better than being handed discs that someone couldn't sell, so they are basically just giving you their garbage anyway.

I went to a tourny that the td said at one point that you would get a 13 dollar credit towards anything in the store .
got there and he handed me a mini as my package I guess he changed his mind that morning at least thats what i heard I was pissed because i drove a hour and half to get there good thing i cashed .

How about a Disc Golf Live DVD? Affordable and a great change of pace, can't beat that with a stick! I can get you a good deal - I'll just twist my own arm. And a double bonus - this supports the folks bringing DG to TV.

My opinion is based on this: most players that show up have no chance of winning and they know that. So we give out a players pack so at least those guys don't go home empty handed. I believe that you might lose a few new players if they are never allowed to recieve anything for their entry fee. How many times would you show up and donate your cash when you know you have no chance of winning or even cashing?? I would probably show up 3 to 5 times and then I'm going to say F-it. But by giving out something of value to players then I hope they will stick with it a little longer.

The worst players pack I ever recieved was a Mis-Printed, D plastic disc. And it was USED!!--scuff marks all over it. No shitProbably came from the TD's personal collection. I wanted to throw it back at the registration table!!!

ummm, these are things you could have checked out before entering! Don't blame the tournamnets or the PDGA, someone should have asked a question or two before entering. Also, aren't you happy just to be playing, why aslways expect something? It is a cheap hobby and to pay a little for a day of fun, thats what it is about.
