First introduced in 1986 while attending a 2 week summer camp in East Texas. There was an object course on the property along the shores of Lake Palestine. I spent most of my 2 weeks playing the frisbee golf course. I forgot all about frisbee golf while attending high school because there were WAY COOLER things to do. However, while attending college in 1993 i came across Riverside Course in Tulsa OK. I had never seen baskets. Found out where they sold discs and the rest is history! Thanks for the jog down memory lane!
1976. Started throwing "lids" around Onondaga Lake Park in Syracuse, and a local had an object course through the park. My college had a tournament in 1982 that I won (two pitchers of beer!). Moved to western NY and heard about a tournament at Joseph Davis Park in Lewiston (Niagara Falls) in 1984 that turned out to be one of the earliest pole hole courses ever. Mach 1's from Steady Ed. Royce Racinowski of Rochester ran the event, and met Eric Vandenberg and Elaine King and the Toronto bunch. Bought an Aviar after seeing it fly, and played nonstop since. Turned Pro in 1986.
I started playing last Jan-Feb. I went online to buy my son some discs for Christmas and decided to buy some for myself. Threw my first disc on Christmas Day in a field. Played my first round about a month later and my first tourney about a week after that. Can't get enough, I only wish I had DISCovered the game 20 years ago.
my brother was at a boy scout camping trip at a state park which had a disc golf course. he played a few times and enjoyed it. Well a few months after that he saw a man putting up a basket in a field and he stopped and talked to him. this man, Keith, has been playing for years and had raise the money and our city gave him permission and the land to put the course on. one afternoon they were putting up a big sign/bulletin board & needed some more muscle & my brother called me to help. after we were done they talked me into playing a round & I've been playing ever since.
I once saw Moses throw a disc down from the mountain, and I said to myself, " if Moses does it,so should I " and the rest is history :)
I grew up in Tulsa. OK and one day in 1979 I rode my 10 speed down to River Parks and put frisbee to chains. Hooked right out of the first tee box. That's right, I said frisbee because disc technology hadn't arrived there yet.
12 years ago I was at a local park (Hudson Mills, for those of you in SE Michigan) with my family, noticed the baskets and asked what they were. We rented discs and played a round. Didn't stick. 3 years ago, my sons dragged me out to play a round at the beginning of summer, and we agreed to go once or twice a week for the summer, as an 'appointment' way of spending time together. I love this game.
Started playing the spring of 07' A girlfriend of mine in art school lived near Kentwood DGC in Raleigh,NC. Hole 16 up at the top of the hill was her backyard.. how cool is that!? --- Been hooked on the game ever since.
I started in 2000 on a course that had been across the street from my school for 5 years but I just didn't know if the baskets were trashcans or bird feeders. Anyway after 4-5 holes of night golf with a frisbee my dad and I went out and bought about 10 discs and just were hooked after that. Oh and CE plastic was $15 and I had about 10 1st run Valks at one point.
I started 1/1/09 and was introduced by Geoff below...I wish I had found this game 20 years ago as well.

I can't get enough. I will always remember my 1st throw at Brahan Springs Park in Huntsville, AL on hole 1... I threw the disc around 200 feet. By day 3, I was playing my 1st tourney there and threw my drive on Hole #1 an estimated 410 feet.

Huge strides in just 3 days. I was stoked.
Sept - Oct 2008 was when i really started getting into it. It was the summer before that I had been introduced by an ex-girl friend and bought some discs. Then we broke up and I stopped even thinking about the game till i found out a few buddies played.
