The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I was playing disc the other day on a beautiful but slightly chilly michigan morning, and thought to myself... "why isn't there an indoor dome world course in Michigan?" What does everyone else think about that, also... who do you think i should contact about funding something like this to be built?

I hear you Mike. My suggestion is based on something we did a few years back--only with skateboarding instead of disc golf. We rented an old warehouse with a couple of offices for $500 a month. Ten of us went in on it and we weren't trying to make a profit--just have an indoor place do do what we loved to do. It got us through the winter!
Yeah that is a good idea, small office building would be cool. Here at Ferris we just had a mini golf day inside of the huge campus library, shots ranging from down stair wells, between book racks, and hole 18 went off of the second story balcony outside into the quad, it was fun.

I couldn't imagine how bad casuals would trash the inside of a building after seeing what they do to our courses. Tree in their way... snap it in half = wall in their way... kick a hole through it. I'm sure you see where I'm going with that.
How much did the new Cowboys' stadium cost? Now picture something perhaps 10 times as large.
I've always thought.. well.. not always, but I think an indoor course could be awesome and wouldnt have to be a freaking dome to be fun. think of the obstacles?!?! it could be like an indoor mini-golf course with wacky stuff and nets and chutes and whatnot.
if you did it right and combined aspects of that with other entertainment like food/drinks, lounge, arcade maybe even?

I dont know. it sounds good in my head :)
The last time I was in the Silverdome I saw possibiliteis there for a great nine holer.
I never said it was a bad idea....the money just isn't there in the disc golf world atm, nor do i think it will be in the near future. Pontiac has been paying 1.5million dollars for upkeep each year and that's WITHOUT having to keep up parking-lot and health codes in concession areas....while it owuld be nice to play a warm round of disc in the middle of January...i just don't see how its feasible.
Aaaaah,
Moved to Florida in 1985.
Helped start Disc Golf in my area.
No regrets.
