The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Did anyone else think that the PDGA's coverage of Worlds was lacking to say the least.  Even the daily video highlights was just a bunch of random shots and showed nothing of the competition.  USDGC and Memorial were covered much better IMO.

I about spit my pop out on the screen the first time I heard " and I'm crazy john brooks". It was entertaining. They were more or less "promo" type updates from what I saw.
This will sound whiny, but....

Eric McCabe is (as some already know) from Emporia, KS, which is 60 miles south of me (Topeka). One of the local sportscasters is at least a casual player of disc golf. What I find bothersome is that when something like the actor who played Cooter on the Dukes of Hazzard is at the local race track with the General Lee, that local sportscaster goes cuckoo for cocoa puffs. But when something slightly more important, something that may be a once in a lifetime event happens, nada. Yes, we are a fringe sport, but so were the X-Games at one time.

Maybe that's the ticket. Maybe the PDGA petitions to be included in the X-Games. If traditional golf can be an Olympic sport, then Disc Golf can be an X-Game. Anything to grow and get exposure.... then again.... I like courses that aren't overly crowded... let's me practice more!
you've Topeka-ed
I have just recently sent an email to thegolfchannel.com suggesting they should augment their slow winter coverage of ball golf with disc golf. Use some of the film from the PDGA, Disc Golf Monthly and some of the high quality stuff from Europe. There is nothing funner for me than watching good coverage of a tournament, live or taped. The other thing I suggested was to have a 4 man challenge pro vs. pro ball golfers against disc golfers, each play the other's game and see how they do in relation to par. The Mixed Golf Championships .... held in Kapalua Hawaii just prior to the January ball golf tournament there. Maybe by then Tiger will be switched to disc golf and could play for our side.
I just say we throw in a few ringers... I would bet there are more disc golfers who play traditional golf as opposed to traditional golfers who play disc golf.
i have taken a pretty good exclusive ball golfer out for a game of disc and he caught on pretty quickly ..... right of the bat he threw it about 300' ..... just another one of them natural born athletes ..... compared to me an ol' hack who's just got turned on by discin'
Boom Boom, you should start a rally to get as many people as you can to email thegolfchannel.com regarding this same issue. Maybe if enough of us rally for it then just maybe, just maybe somthing will come of it. Im sending my email momentarily!
Probably should create a form letter with room to add content, thereby making it more likely to have more people respond.
Judging by the preview on PDGA.com, the Vibram Open should have excellent coverage!! Let's hope that it becomes the new standard by which all other premier events are covered!
The people involved do it free (Dodge+) and have facilities with power and wi-fi access at a fixed, private location each year. It's unreasonable to expect other professionals to do the same and have similar course facilities to cover other events. Not enough people paid when even a modest fee ($10) was charged to provide live coverage for the last USDGC and Memorial.
Easy Chuck, I said lets HOPE it becomes the standard.
