When is the One Disc Challenge going to be this year?

Maybe so, John, I do make mistakes. But in the reporting afterwards, it was stated that the Ace Pool was $1,800 total, and with 90 players, the only way you can get that is if $20 each went into the pot. (Out of the $25 entry fee, some of which went to club and some of which went to provide some of the dot merch.) But, like I said, I have been known to occasionally be wrong about something :)

I don't believe it was $25 in 08 it was $15 total $12 to the ace pool $3 for dots with an OPTIONAL/ADDITIONAL $10 pool, for sure a few years back when my bro got a piece of the pool, I'm thinking $7 or $10 in 1999 @ Brown the first one I attended

Brad, it's the ORIGINAL Ace Race, from which all others have derived. Typically, there are more than 100 dot prizes (discs and other stuff) and an ace pool that could approach $2,000.

Joe, in recent years donations have dwindled, relatively speaking, and the club has provided substantial dot prizes from its merch inventory.

I don't have the 2008 numbers, but in 2007 (at the $25 rate) there were 90 players who threw for a piece of an $1,800 pot, plus lots of dot prizes.

Sorry to jump in the middle of the debate, but is the ace race a Discraft Ace Race, with the associated plasticware? Or just a regular, garden variety ace race?

Joe what was the entry fee again and such when you created the event??

Hi, Bill. Hopefully a bunch of folks come out, I'm sure there will be plenty of folks who want to drop $25 on a shot at a big ace pot. Dots started as an aside, and shouldn't be a drain on funds. Donations are dots: no donations, no dots, simple as that. No reason to rule out critical thinking when it comes to event planning and execution, that's how things are supposed to get better. How better to DIScourage donations than having a high entry fee? Modest fees from years ago engendered a spirit of sharing and donations came out of the woodwork.

Joe i am just following the event the way it has been the last couple of years. I didn't create the event just following what i was given.
i will not be moving it to a park with the large parking problems it has. if somebody else wants to move it there and run it i will let them do so next year otherwise it will be staying at hudson mills until somebody else is willing to run it there, sorry.
we could easily drop the entry fee and the A3 portion to smaller amounts but then the amount of dots given away become more dependent on people bringing them to be given away.

The Ace Race should be moved back to MBD park (Brown) since it is again available, and $25 bucks a head makes a mockery of the Ace Race concept. I conceived and started the event, I should know. We used to get well over a hundred folks, nothing close to that any longer. I'd think jacking prices way up had a lot to do with that. Just my two cents. I'll be out a Brown that day if I'm golfing.
