"Hi, My Name Is ______ And I Have An Ace Problem" 1 Reply

I'll start...I've been playing since 1979 (a once a month-er) until 2007 which I have played about 250 rounds since. I have never thrown an ace. Why? Where have I gone wrong in my life to deserve…Continue

I’ve only been playing a year (and only last summer). My very first round ever, played the day after Fairbanks, Alaska’s first and only course opened, I scored a birdie on hole 5. Hole 5 is a short (123’) par three that has a nasty dogleg left. You have no line of sight to the basket and if you over throw by even five feet you fall down a ten foot drop into heavy brush. Needless to say, despite shooting a +18 on the 9 hole round, I was hooked (I managed to get it down to a +5 by the end of the day).

BUT… even though I played 3 or 4 times a week for the rest of the summer, I never managed to ace it. I never even managed to get par for the course, even though I got close (getting +2 half a dozen times).

This summer for sure!

I know that there a couple of holes at North Water Tower Park in Sarasota that I have the chance of hitting an ace on, but so far i've only gotten moderately close.
This eve (4/22) I was doing a handicap round at Lakeview Park (also in Sarasota) and saw one of the guys in the group I was with throw an ace on hole #14... my first visual. I heard one happen behind me last week on hole #3 at NWTP. So, it's raining aces...

Hi, My name is Smokey and I am a missaholic. I have hit the basket or chains so many times that I've lost count. Last year at a tourney a friend of mine almost went crazy after witnessing the misses both rounds. I went in and out on 8 holes through 2 rounds. I need the disc zen!!!! Crazy thing is, all of the misses were on single chained baskets.........hmmmmm.......maybe the single chained baskest have to large of gauge chain.

I actually SAW my first ace at Sayde's Memorial tourny on Saturday. I've been playing for years and have heard them, had one happen 15 feet away from me as I was looking elsewhere. I've hit basket, chain, bogey-bar, black ace chains...just nothing ever sticks.

Last week, In-and-Out, middle of the chains...ooohhh it hurts.

Hit the bottom of the basket again this week. 240 hyzer that had skip ace written on it. Maybe next weekend.

In 13 years I have no Aces. Zero..Zip..Nada. Considering all the rounds I have played at White Birch Park (3500 ft for 18 holes) this may be the most (or least) impressive feat I have accomplished in disc golf.

However, it really does not seem to be affecting the quality of my life so I'm not sure I need a support group.

I have to the best of my recollection, 31 aces. I've been playing since 1984, so it could be plus or minus 1 or 2. In the early nineties I kept close track of the number. It has probably been nearly two years since I got one. It was Hole 16 short, on the side of the hill, at Morley Field, San Diego.

Everyones time will come and it's when you least expect it.

My son was ace-less for almost 3 years. Labor day 2007, dusk, hole #19 at Morley, over 400 ft, his 1st ace. Only me, Brandon (in the pro shop), and a kid on the practice basket were there. I'll never forget the look on his face. Your time will come also!
