Just to put an end to the scores being uploaded to the PDGA website I wanted to get a response from the PDGA on exactly how the stats apear on the website. Below is the response I got directly from the PDGA:

Tournament results are shown on-line in three different ways at three
different stages:

Stage 1 - Unofficial Results- These are based on the TD's upload of the
scores and the number of holes and par for each round for each division. The
unofficial results include Unofficial Scores and Unofficial Round Ratings.
These are dependent on the TD doing an upload to the Tournament
Administration platform and can vary when available, sometimes TDs will
upload every round shortly after completion, sometimes they will upload
nightly for multiple day tournaments, sometimes they will upload several
days after the tournament is completed. Sometimes they don't upload at all.
The unofficial results are on this platform ONLY, they do NOT populate onto
a Player's stats page.

Stage 2 - Official Results - These are Official Scores uploaded by the PDGA
office to the Production platform based on the TD Report sent in by the TD.
When these are uploaded, the Unofficial Round Ratings are no longer
displayed so as to avoid confusion with part of the data (Scores and Payout)
being official and part of the data (Ratings) being unofficial.  These are
dependent on the TD sending in their TD report.  Some are sent in promptly
within a day or two of the tournament, some not so quickly.  At this stage
the data does NOT populate onto a Player's stats page.

Stage 3 - Official Results with Official Round Ratings:  These are shown
from the Production platform after a Ratings Update has been completed.
This is an exhaustive process that takes place based on the Official Scores
and course data.  When completed, the current members Player Statistics
pages are also updated with their stats (dependent on accurate names and
PDGA numbers within the TD reports.)

If there are currently no results showing for the tournament at all, then it
simply means the TD didn't upload the scores.

Each year the March Ratings Update is the first one to include that year's
events as Jan and February finish out the previous year's events.  So either
today or tomorrow I will be importing the 2012 events and they will be at
Stage 2, then after the Ratings Update on the 20th they will be at Stage 3.

Thanks,

Andrew

Had a blast at the Barnett Park tournament. The event was ran well, courses were awesome and met some great disc golfers!

I do however share some of the sentiments that were posted earlier about the results not being posted in a month. All but for February tournaments are posted and two of those are out of the US.

Regardless, the trip was great for myself and the 3 others that came with. Especially for the Cam, 19yr old from Mobile that finished 4th in pro! Way to go kid! BOOM!

Thanks for the tournament guys!

Will ice cream be provided at next year's tourney? I can't believe it wasn't provided this year...lol

Comment by Matthew Monczka on March 3, 2012 at 8:44am

Robert, we do appreciate your comments and insight on this board. Thanks. I don't think you hurt anyone's feelings. It is important for people to get fresh perspectives about issues and ideas for tournaments. It will only make things better in the future for the players. It seems that many believe ratings being posted is a priority in choosing tournaments. The Barnett Disc Golf Team will work together to insure that unofficial round ratings are posted at the end of the tourney next year. Now, let's move on and get some ice cream!!!!!

Andrew, in following with the discgolfersr.us guidelines, please TRY to refrain from dropping F-bombs in message board conversation.

Heiner.......

You mentioned it a couple years back...is the PDGA sanctioning worth the hassle? I don't think so. Take the fees you have to pay them and put them back in the player awards. No check to write, no forms to fill out and no complaining because their "ratings" aren't updated immediately.

I think the appeal of the courses and long standing history of hosting well-run tourneys stand on their own merits and don't need the appeal of PDGA sanctioning to attract players.
