I have been thinking about getting one (abar that goes through the ear in two places), but I have seen lots of people with swollen and infected holes up in their cartilage. Anyone with a yea or nay comment?

You can get one without all the bad side effects. A lot of people who have swollen ones and infected ones are not taking care of them properly. Also, if it was pierced wrong, no matter what you do it wont work. Cartilage piercings can take up to a year to completely heal, so it may not be for everyone.

The aftercare for an industrial involves saltwater sprays, antibacterial soap, and lots of q-tips. You are not supposed to twist the jewelry like many people think. You just clean it and then LEAVE IT ALONE. Be sure not to get hairsprays or anything in it. You also cannot sleep on it.

With your long hair, industrial piercings are gonna wreak havoc on you. Your hair will continuously get caught in it if you are not careful. But, there are some options

1. Get an inner industrial (rook to anti-tragus). They dont get caught on your hair as much.

2. Talk to your piercer and ask him/her what would be better for your style.
