Donated a couple weeks ago and they talked me into the double red blood cell option using the centrifuge machine. I felt extra generous afterwards but I probably won't do it again, gave me the chills.

Just donated at the Washtenaw ARC. 40 minutes from walk-in to walk-out! That is an astonishingly fast turn-around for these guys, and it wasn't hurried at all. Fantastic.

I am A+, nothing special, but I do give every 3-6 months when my iron is not too low. I have given for the past 6 years after I finally got over the 110 lbs. weight when they would finally let me. I work at Huntsville Hospital so cool thing is if you give a pint of blood, at their LifeSouth, the hospital gives you $20 worth of gift cards to the Rave Movie theatre, a t-shirt and goodness knows I can sit there and drink apple juice and eat those goldfish crackers till the sun goes down! lol My son now gives so we make it a point to give blood side by side. Only time I can get some one on one time with a 19 year old! lol I encourage everyone to give! ♥

I am B+, nothing rare.
I donate blood once every 3-6 months for the last 5 years.

I've donated 19 pints and frequently do plasma donations.
Plasma has a 42 hours shelf life, so it's very beneficial.

I work in a hospital, and see how needed rare blood types are. If you've never donated, try it! Giving as little as 1 pint will make all the difference in the world!

The point is to donate and encourage others to donate.
I have been giving since high school (we won't discuss when that was).
I was at a reception put on by our local blood bank and they were honoring several people who had donated over 100 gallons. My hat is off to those people!

can you show me some research to back up those statements?
otherwise my $ plasma goes to the same place yours does.

hey there dirtysep. you may have been paid for what you give but my plasma and platelets goes out of me for free and usually ends up serving a child with cancer or severely burned without any charge to anyone. O POSITIVE, yes I am a commoner, but I'm without the virus that most adults carry ? I can't remember just what that is but what it does is allows my blood to go to patients (mostly children) that also have not yet become infested with the virus I speak of. last week I heard that I could get $55.00 for the process but also heard that the blood/plasma/platelets that the agencies pay for usually ends up in perfumes, make up and other cosmetic products. So I think I keep up the keeping up for free, unless I need money to play a tournament. Unless you want to sposor me, anyone ? Giving Blood for children - It's my only good dead, aside from telling everyone "peace in your universe and with that said, get your disc and godiscn".

I'm not sure how much, but I started donating blood a few years ago at red cross. then I started donating plasma last year for probably a kegs worth. seriously. you plasma givers know what I mean.

I'm o+ and just recently received my 5 gallon pin from the Florida Blood Service. It's easy and you get cool things for doing it. Best of all its knowing I might have saved someones life is rewarding enough for me.
